It doesn't start until 2 a.m. here but I'm up and ready to go, I have vodka and muffins and new Mittens icons. I've been looking forward to this all day.

Was just coming here to add this. There is a live stream. Also, today's usual show covered some pretty revealing stuff about how the debates are structured.

I highly recommend listening to the debates courtesy of Amy Goodman, instead of corporate news.

The Barack Obama tumblr reblogged a Mean Girls gif. I don't know what to do with this

And that means the first presidential debate is tonight at 9pm ET. We’ll be watching at barackobama.com/debate, featuring a livestream, a live blog, and a few other live things, probably. See you there.

Sometimes, living in the future is amazing.
crossfire 3rd-Oct-2012 11:46 pm (UTC)
This is going to be glorious.
layweed 3rd-Oct-2012 11:46 pm (UTC)
I honestly don't know if I'm going to watch this. I feel like it's irresponsible not to, but I could really do without the spike in blood pressure.
lightbird777 3rd-Oct-2012 11:48 pm (UTC)
Yep, that's exactly how I feel about it.
jupisan 3rd-Oct-2012 11:47 pm (UTC)

I'm here.
fishphile 3rd-Oct-2012 11:48 pm (UTC)
You all. I have a fear. What if Romney is actually decent tonight?

goldengal1193 3rd-Oct-2012 11:52 pm (UTC)
Oh, I'm already bracing myself for that. Especially since everyone is saying you're going to see the moderate Mitt tonight.

And if Mitt holds his own, of course he'll be declared the winner.

Shit. Why did you bring that up? *grabs drink*
goldengal1193 3rd-Oct-2012 11:50 pm (UTC)
I'm ready to go.

365reasonswhy 3rd-Oct-2012 11:54 pm (UTC)
I have gin, vermouth and olives. Totally unplanned, but I guess it's martini night! I'm would be assed by the end of the night if I followed this though.
layweed 3rd-Oct-2012 11:51 pm (UTC)
I'm sure C-SPAN will have it.
doverz 3rd-Oct-2012 11:50 pm (UTC)
So excited. I was originally supposed to work tonight but my boss gave me that last two days off since he scheduled me for 8 days straight originally. Will be drinking some vodka pineapple.
treradical 3rd-Oct-2012 11:52 pm (UTC)
i'm so excited lmao
chimbleysweep 3rd-Oct-2012 11:52 pm (UTC)
I am ready.

And I am ready to listen to my mom making agonized sounds whenever Romney opens his mouth. Because I might not be able to handle hearing his voice without some RiffTrax-like commentary.
365reasonswhy 3rd-Oct-2012 11:52 pm (UTC)
I am watching the coverage on MSNBC and the way they're covering it, it feels like the pregame for a college football tournament. Politics are so bizarre these days.

Anyway, I'm so disgusted by Paul Ryan. His comments about the 30% who receive more benefits than they pay in taxes being only takers and not makers is so gross seeing as how a lot of those people have been makers for decades and are just now starting to take what they put in.

It's also gross considering he received social security benefits for two years when he was a teenager and doesn't apparently see the irony that he was a taker before he ever had the chance to be a maker and was privileged enough to be able to use what he took to pay for college.

But he wants to deny the same thing to others. Gross human being.

I really want Obama and Foot in Mouth to slay the Republican ticket during these debates.
baked_goldfish 4th-Oct-2012 12:12 am (UTC)
The fact that the "gaffe" story of the day is Biden lamenting the middle class has been buried, and not Ryan calling 30% of Americans leeches, tells you everything you need to know about how disconnected political reporting is from reality.

I think I need a drink.

I don't want to make this long, but basically, my parents own a marina. After the crash in 2008, things have been a catastrophe–they're facing foreclosures, bankruptcy, and all that kind of bullshit, but the banks are refusing to work with them and they haven't been able to pay their mortgage ($15,000 a month btw) on the Marina in 4 years. My dad is convinced that Barack Obama is part of this issue. It's so upsetting to me, because I hate to see my parents struggling, but he just won't listen to reason when me or my sister try to explain to him that the DEP fining him for his dock numbering is the STATE and not Federal. He just doesn't care and wants to (trigger: racial slur) "send the ****** home". My father is a good man, and I have NEVER seen him so distraught and angry. I'm so torn by this election because I believe and will vote for Obama, but I know how much my father is hurting and will continue to be angry with our President and me for voting for him.

It's just a terrible situation and I just wish that the economy would start to pick up in Florida :( I can't wait for this race to be over.

IMPORTANT: What should I be drinking while playing bingo? I've got vodka in the freezer, could make myself a whiskey + ginger ale, Malibu/OJ, or a White Russian.

All I know is, I am NOT wasting my good single malt avoiding a headache from Mitt Romney's existence.

er0tic_chill 4th-Oct-2012 12:30 am (UTC)
Where did you find your bingo card?
dearmisterecho 3rd-Oct-2012 11:56 pm (UTC)
what time is it for Eastern time zone peeps? I got up early (JPN time) to watch this and thought I'd be up just in time for it, but the youtube video says I gotta wait half an hour? :\?
wonderpup 3rd-Oct-2012 11:58 pm (UTC)
It is a little after 8pm here, so just under an hour to go.
dustbunny105 3rd-Oct-2012 11:56 pm (UTC)
I was supposed to be working tonight but I've had an eye-crossing, nauseous headache all day. Gonna try to follow this anyway, just because I whined so much about having to miss it.
fuck_of_nature 3rd-Oct-2012 11:57 pm (UTC)
So glad I will be able to watch most of it. I really didn't want to have to find a link later.
intrikate88 4th-Oct-2012 12:00 am (UTC)
Well, yeah, you don't want to get spoiled for THIS series premier.
