Miami U flier: 'Top ten ways to get away with rape'2:20 pm - 10/15/2012
A flier posted in the men's restroom at a Miami University freshman co-ed dorm offered pointers on the “Top Ten Ways to Get Away with Rape,” from slipping roofies into a girl’s drink to drug her to slitting her throat so she can’t identify her attacker.

Discovery of the flier last weekend prompted Miami University officials to call a mandatory meeting for male students at McBride Hall. They launched a police investigation that could result in internal disciplinary action for the student responsible if found. Police presence at the dorm was increased.
But leaders in a student organization that works to prevent sexual assault is criticizing Miami’s response, say it didn’t go far enough on a campus where at least 27 sexual assaults were reported since 2009. It’s an allegation that university officials deny.
Junior Kate Van Fossen, vice present of Women Against Violence and Sexual Assault (WAVE), said the university should have notified the student body, told them the behavior was unacceptable and wouldn’t be tolerated at Miami.
“If I wasn’t involved with WAVE I wouldn’t have known about this incident,” Van Fossen said Friday. “The university is brushing this issue … under the rug.”
She said she has since posted a picture of the rape flier on Facebook and more than 100 people have shared the post.
A resident assistant at McBride Hall found the flier over the weekend and reported it to the university’s Wellness Office on Monday, Van Fossen said.
She found out about it from the director of that office who passed the information to higher ups.
WAVE also contacted university officials encouraging them to send out a notice to students, Van Fossen said. That request went unanswered, she said.
“It could have been a joke, but the fact of the matter is that those thoughts are crossing someone’s mind. There are girls living in a hall where someone came up with that,” Van Fossen said. “It’s just disturbing.”
Barbara Jones, Miami’s vice president for student affairs, said the incident didn’t merit sending out an alert to students because it didn’t pose an immediate threat.
“All of our evidence shows it was confined strictly to McBride Hall,” she said.
She called the flier “reprehensible” and said university officials take student safety seriously.
“I read the flier. I was shocked. It has no place on our campus or any other campus,” she said.
Van Fossen also questions whether Miami is serious about sexual assault prevention on campus. The university’s sexual assault prevention coordinator position has been vacant for a year, she said.
The coordinator’s job, according to Miami’s website, is to promote awareness on sexual assault, work on programs to reduce the behavior and serve as a liaison for student victims.
Jones said the university went through three rounds of recruiting to find a candidate. The person who accepted the job a month ago bowed out for another position elsewhere, she said.
According to the Miami University police website, 27 sexual assaults were reported on the Oxford campus from 2009 through 2011, and 19 of them were alleged to have happened in dorms.
Campus police officials did not respond to two messages requesting statistics for the current year. A campus crime alert online, however, indicates a recent attack involved a female student who reported being raped on Maple Street near a school construction site at 1:15 a.m. Sept. 23.
Update: Miami University says it has taken action after a flyer seemingly promoting rape was found a dorm bathroom.
The school said the paper titled "Top Ten Ways to Get Away with Rape" was found Oct. 8. in McBride Hall.
The school said officials called a mandatory meeting of all men living in the hall and has filed a police report over the incident.
"I was shocked when I saw this flyer. This doesn't belong on this campus or any campus," said Barbara Jones, vice president for student affairs, in a news release on Monday. "The university takes this incident seriously and we are acting accordingly."
The incident remains under investigation.
I can't find a bigger version of the flier but it look like it says
1.) Put drugs in the woman's drink, therefore she won't remember you.
2.) When you see a woman walking by herself take advantage of the fact that she is alone.
3.) Wear protection
4.) If a woman's window is unlocked sneak in and rape her to teach her not to do it again.
5.) Sex with an unconscious body does count, so don't back down if she's sleeping.
6.) Honesty is the best policy. If the girl tells you she doesn't want to have sex tell her you are going to get her a drink, slip some roofies in it and you'll have her in bed in no time.
7.) Practice makes perfect, the more you rape, the better you get at it.
8.) If you're afraid the girl will identify you slit her throat.
9.) Never take pictures with or give your number to the girl you rape.
10.) RAPE RAPE RAPE, it's college boys live it up!
