I guess nobody told her the Australian PM is a woman and an atheist

It must be quite a shock for Julia Gillard to find that President Barack Obama's re-election somehow transformed her into Australia's male, Christian president who "actually supports what he says".

Confused? So was Kristen Neel, a teenager from Georgia, who gained Twitter infamy in Australia in a matter of hours on Wednesday evening.

After news President Obama won four more years, the 18-year-old tweeted: "I'm moving to Australia, because their president is a Christian and actually supports what he says."

She has since deleted her Twitter account, but search tool Topsy showed she was retweeted over 1500 times.

Before she went offline, Ms Neel tried to explain.

"I was referring to the prevous (sic) office that actually had a moral position," she wrote.

Australian political and media observers didn't take long to pounce, sending out numerous tweets.

I'm kind of confused about why so many republicans think Australia is some sort of conservative haven though. I just...like, what have we done to deserve that reputation?

A lot of Republicans just don't actually know what's going on out there in the world. There's this whole idea here that EVERYONE is doing things the way Republicans here want to do them and it's the Democrats who are trying to screw things up.

I mean, in example, a lot of tea party and conservative Republicans have said they plan on moving to Canada if Obamacare isn't repealed because hell if they're going to pay for their neighbors healthcare. What sense does that make?

I saw someone on my FB feed talking to a Canadian about packing up and moving in with the Canadian because of the election. The Canadian was very gracious about it, and explained that if he wasn't happy with Obama, he would be very unhappy in Canada.

The conservatives don't seem to understand that it's very different when Liberals are unhappy with a conservative turn of events and express a desire to live in a different country. Liberals can move to an array of countries around the world and be quite content as political ex-pats.

Conservatives? Their choices are a bit more limited. Seriously. I can't think of a country where they'd be happier.

North Korea.

Wish we could ship some of them there if they hate it here so badly.

But they think Filipino women are untouched by feminism and are submissive. They don't care if they're brown, they just want domestic slaves.

They should meet my mother, if anyone tried to call her submissive to her face she would give them a tongue lashing they wouldn't believe.

Bingo. I've heard/seen them threaten to move to Canada, Australia, Brazil, and in at least one instance somewhere in Western Europe (that socialist pit of sin they're always complaining about).

They just really, really don't know what the world is like outside their own borders.
