President Obama give his thanks in this emotional speech.

7:41 pm - 11/08/2012
I have a lot of problems with some of his policies (foreign, environmental) but I don't understand how anyone (especially Mitt Romney supporters) actually believes that this man is detached, aloof, and unemotional.

I've gotten choked up the past couple of days, but I didn't actual, runny nose cry until this. Damn. We made it ya'll.
nikoel 10th-Nov-2012 04:44 am (UTC)
SO MUCH THIS
ladypolitik 9th-Nov-2012 06:00 am (UTC)
Christ. I think the reason this punches you (and him LOL) square in The Feels is because of that "full circle" bit of the speech, above everything else. If you've ever hears or read his accounts of what major, MAJOR struggles with identity he had as a young adult -- and how community work helped centre him, in that respect -- those tears are coming from a place of serious/personal context and from a deep/genuine place.

Goddamn onions everywhere
hammersxstrings 9th-Nov-2012 06:02 am (UTC)
Even before the tears fall, too, like a minute in, his voice is already going. How do people not find him sincere?
purplerains 9th-Nov-2012 06:19 am (UTC)
He's so lovable.
nepthys_12 9th-Nov-2012 06:38 am (UTC)
He's so adorable, I just want to give him a hug.

;_;

Aaron Sorkin can only dream of writing something this genuinely affecting.
ecrivais 9th-Nov-2012 06:07 pm (UTC)
You mean fast paced witty political banter with a heaping spoonful of jargon isn't genuinely affecting?
little_rachael 9th-Nov-2012 07:00 am (UTC)
Love this man!
executivehpfan 9th-Nov-2012 09:49 am (UTC)
OMG THIS IS GIVING ME LEGIT WEST WING FEELS

I love this man so fucking much. Watching him tear up fucked my shit up for real. Fuck.
wrestlingdog 10th-Nov-2012 12:58 pm (UTC)
IKR? This whole campaign is like West Wing fanfiction.

(Actually, it reminds me of that scene where Toby has a meeting with his interns and tells him "You're my guys, and I'm yours.")
hobnailedboots 9th-Nov-2012 09:59 am (UTC)
awww, I'm all choked up
moonbladem 9th-Nov-2012 10:02 am (UTC)
I think he's, first of all, genuine. Genuine in how he cares about his fellow Americans and wants the best for everyone, wants everyone to have the opportunity to succeed. Those tears, preceded by the reddening of his eyes and the emotion in his voice? Genuine.

I voted for him and he'll always be my President. The next one I'd like to see as President? Hillary.
hinoema 9th-Nov-2012 01:28 pm (UTC)
Hillary's cool, but she's too much of a hawk on defense for me to want her as President. How about Cory Booker?
thenakedcat 9th-Nov-2012 03:47 pm (UTC)
I would TOTALLY vote Booker 2016. And I can see Kirsten Gillibrand eventually making a run for president, just like Hillary before her.
dearmisterecho 9th-Nov-2012 01:58 pm (UTC)
that tear going down his cheek ;_;
85redberries 9th-Nov-2012 02:04 pm (UTC)
I cried when he cried.

Some folks are down on him because second terms usually suck, but I am more proud and hopeful than ever. He has defied the odds before, and he can do it again.

unpoopular 9th-Nov-2012 02:37 pm (UTC)
I hope he makes epic changes this term
sunoftheskye 9th-Nov-2012 05:38 pm (UTC)
I have been looking forward to this for so long. I always said his second term was going to slay.

Dammit I'm crying again in my office. I was truly cynical of him when he first ran for president, I had no idea how much I would love this man like I do now.
pistol_eyes 9th-Nov-2012 07:38 pm (UTC)
That's nice but I really hope that in this second term he addresses the high unemployment rates among black americans and stops talking down to black people.
