Tbh, I feel like suggesting that a little biracial girl can see herself in Obama the same way that a little biracial boy can kinda plays into the idea of men as the default. There is an emphasis on sons because no matter how revolutionary his election, Obama is still a man; his success sends the message that boys of color can grow up to become the president. Little girls of all stripes are still waiting for the tried and tested assurance that they can get as far.
