Right! I have far more admiration (respect was the wrong word) for gay individuals who are strong enough to ignore their vulnerabilities and who take major risks sharing their experiences etc, than for straight people who are just using logic, reason, empathy, compassion etc to be fair! Way too often, people in power are given more power: the praise given to white civil rights activists or to men who fight against the rape-victimg blaming. All that is unnecessary, it's great when people take a stand, but it shouldn't be needed. And it paints a sad picture that it is needed in our society, illustrates that we're not at all as near as we need to be to an "equal" society.
