O’Reilly: Black Voters Don’t Believe In ‘Self Reliance’ Or ‘American Exceptionalism’

Since the night of the election, Bill O’Reilly has been looking for a scapegoat on whom he can blame Mitt Romney’s loss. He seems to have found one in African American, Latino, and female voters.

Before all the votes were even cast on November 6, O’Reilly came out with the theory that “The white establishment is now the minority,” and that women, black, and Latino voters are “non-traditional” voters who “feel that they are entitled to things and which candidate, between the two, is going to give them things?”

On his show last night, O’Reilly responded to comedian Jon Stewart’s criticism that mourning “traditional voters” is latent racism. But in his rebuttal, O’Reilly explained that the mass turnout of voters of color signaled an end to “traditional American voters.” The new voters, he argued, don’t understand “traditional American values”:

If you look at the exit polling, you’ll see that a coalition of voters put the President back into the oval office. That coalition was non-tradition, which means it veered away from things like traditional marriage, robust capitalism, and self reliance. Instead, each constituency that voted for the President — whether it be single women, Hispanic Americans, African Americans, whatever — had very specific reasons for doing so. [...]

Traditional American voters generally want a smaller government in Washington, more local control, some oversight on abortion, and believe in American exceptionalism.

Watch it:

O’Reilly isn’t new to making racially charged comments. Just days before the election, he speculated that Sec. of State Colin Powell cut Obama “a little more slack” in his endorsement of him because they are both black. He’s also claimed that Democrats have made black people “dependent” on the government.

OP: In other words, they want to be treated like human beings. How horrible is that? We women don't want to just be walking vagina's? Black people don't have to have to worry about their children being gunned down for buying Skittles? Latino's don't want to carry around boxes full of documents to prove they belong here (or worry that some insane person will torch that just to send them away?) Can you believe that O'Reilly? What is the world coming to?

whenever bill o'reilly says something horrible I put on a little clip of the o'reilly/jon stewart debate and comfort myself by watching him get schooled by JS.

You know, with how widespread this sentiment is becoming, I'm slowly beginning to prepare myself for what's looking to be four really, really shitty years to be Black, Hispanic, queer, female, or any combination thereof.

Also Bill O'Riely can suck a fuck but that goes without saying.

Some days, I amuse myself by imagining a sort of "Y: The Last Man" sort of scenario, where I have the power to snap my fingers and make everyone but straight white males invisible, just so we could watch and see what the flabbergasted gasbags would try to point out as alien and frightening, then.

And just before they lost their minds I snap my fingers and we all come back and then see what happens THEN too.

The womenfolk just vote the same as their husbands, so married men have more of a say! Doesn't anyone think of how single men are affected by letting those moms vote?

don't forget the strain on our ovaries with all that thinking taking blood away from our wombs

Define "traditional American voters", fuckstick. If you give me an answer other than straight white Christian men, GO EAT A HOT BOWL OF DICKS.
jojo342 20th-Nov-2012 09:13 pm (UTC)
Barack Obama campaigned on policies that his coalition supported and then they voted for him. Terrible.
koken23 20th-Nov-2012 09:34 pm (UTC)

Dear Bill,

More than half of the people who voted in 2012 voted for President Obama. The people who voted are American. Their values ARE American values, no matter how much you want to think otherwise. More Americans support marriage equality than don't. More Americans support the idea that health care is a right and if you can't afford it, the government should help with that. More Americans believe that rich assholes like yourself should pay more taxes since you're doing so well despite a shitty economy.

And oh yeah, more Americans think that women's rights matter, and they aren't going to sit around and let men like yourself decide whether or not we're forced to give birth if we're raped.

No love,

skellington1 20th-Nov-2012 09:54 pm (UTC)
Well put.

Sorry. Went to bed after submitting it but I see someone added more tags anyway. Anything else I should tag it?
chaya 21st-Nov-2012 01:52 pm (UTC)
Nope, tag fairy covered it all.
beoweasel 20th-Nov-2012 09:54 pm (UTC)
Oh boy, I hope Steward talks about this, I REALLY, REALLY DO.
beoweasel 20th-Nov-2012 10:11 pm (UTC)
Hey, hey, hey Bill you know why I voted for Obama?

I didn't vote for him because I "wanted things", because I don't need government assistance at this point in my life. But I'm neither stupid, nor am I a greedy prick, because I fully realize that millions of Americans do. Not because they're lazy, because the vast majority of them aren't. But because I don't want to see those people live in squalor just so a few more bucks line my goddamn pocket.

I believe women should have the right to their own economic, social, and biological autonomy and the ability to choose for themselves if and when they want to start a family.

I believe people have the right to their own well-being, because I see young men and women ignore their health issues, not because they were lazy or incompetent, but because they didn't have health insurance, and they didn't have health insurance, because at the end of the day they had to make a choice whether to have a roof over their head and food on the table or insurance, so you know what they'll be forced to choose.

And I REALLY don't want to hear whining about "entitlement" from your PRIVILEGED-SOAKED, WHITE RICH ASS.

Yeah, I voted for Obama because I "wanted things," and those things are called basic human rights. I voted for Obama because Romney thinks people like me shouldn't be allowed to have children, and Ryan thinks I should be forced to have children if I'm impregnated by my rapist.
beoweasel 20th-Nov-2012 11:02 pm (UTC)
Oh Bill, I forgot, here's a song just for you and the rest of 'White Traditional America":

And really, this song plays all the time in my head when I hear conservatives whine about how America no long 'reflects their values'

Guess what, Bill'O? A *lot* of us Americans don't believe in 'American exceptionalism'. Because it's *not true*.

You incredible tit.

Just go *away* - you lost, we won, get over it.
wrestlingdog 20th-Nov-2012 11:25 pm (UTC)
I loved that segment.
moonbladem 20th-Nov-2012 11:38 pm (UTC)
OMG sit down and shut up, you mean, racist, entitled prick. Better still, why don't you go away for good?

O'Reilly's been saying racist shit like this for years, it's no surprise he's amping it up since his guy lost the election. Yes, his guy. Fuck that nonsense about Bill claiming to be independent.

I also hope that Stewart will stop humoring O'Reilly. Just because Bill is the only Fox person willing to go on the Daily Show doesn't mean he needs to be given another forum to spew his BS.

American exceptionalism is one of the biggest crocks of shit of all time.
betray802 21st-Nov-2012 03:49 am (UTC)
You get the idea one (or several) of the minions left quite a bit out of the reports they were sending back to the Dragit. He seems not to understand what a pile of cold fried shit he seeks to conquer.
agentsculder 21st-Nov-2012 01:43 am (UTC)
I believe America is exceptional. I just don't believe it's the ONLY exceptional nation. Lots of other places are pretty cool too. I will never understand why people like Bill think there's something wrong with that idea.
celtic_thistle 21st-Nov-2012 04:20 am (UTC)
Yeah, the idea that America is THE BEST COUNTRY EVAR just makes no sense.
nicosian 21st-Nov-2012 02:10 am (UTC)
Oh, Billy. Go sit your mewling privileged rich ass DOWN.

Funny how, if you had your way, blacks would be household implements, women would be naught but breeding receptacles, and latinos on par with rights of your ride on lawnmower and the gays and lesbians and transfolk would be shunned and shamed in the public square, and THINK hey, these are HUMANS with rights you arsenugget.

And then think "gee, maybe all those non traditional voters aren't buying the song your fellow rich pasty assed leeches on humanity are selling. Not buying your tale of woe as your ill gotten power in the world is pecked to death by all of us.

later, chump. Hope the slide into irrelevance and oblivion is lined with sharp legos and your bare backside. :D
homasse 21st-Nov-2012 02:18 am (UTC)
Talk about completely missing Jon's point. Like, whoa.

Also, STFU, Billo.
windy_lea 21st-Nov-2012 02:22 am (UTC)
Uh, it's a good thing not to believe in American Exceptionalism, you gasbag.

I don't even normally stoop to nicknames, but I want to call him Billo Bagass so much.
