Early Tuesday morning it was brought to our attention that

koken23 was not who she was claiming to be, an accusation that was proven to be true within minutes.

She quickly released a statement:

"Jules is fictional. She's a character in a novel I've been writing - a younger version of the novel character - and I made this blog to flesh her out, to see if I could get into her head. Along the way, she became a sort of escape for me".

Thus, she was removed from her responsibilities as a moderator for not being real.

This post ruined my night.

...because the mention of MsScribe sent be back to the FW wiki and I reread all that shit, and read that article on the Stranger that was posted, and now I've spent 3 hours following links down the rabbit hole of the internet.

This was some pretty unfeeling shady stuff. :/

Between this and seeing a favorite local blogger getting duped on online dating (he even faked being a Canadian soldier who lost his legs in Afghanistan as a why he lied about not meeting her, after he said his Uncle died in a car accident AND THEN his mother dying. So when he got busted he pulled the injured soldier bit.)

are we OT up in this post yet? because i just wrote the first short story that i've authored in like, a decade (seriously since high school at LEAST). i'm trying to put together a writing sample portfolio so i can start trying to apply for writing positions on the side, and i want some instant gratification (today's accepted currency is: feedback) for getting this done, damnit!

Sadly I was wondering when I would see something like this come to light on a comm here on lj. Its so common that I have lost a lot of faith in general that people are fundamentally honest and good. I knew someone who would create multiple personalities because her real life was such so much hell and sadness she couldn't function unless she escaped it. When I figured this out - I cut that cancer out of my life and then I got blamed for not being a good friend. GTFO with that crap.

I feel so badly for anyone who was betrayed by this person or anyone else like "her".

Someone sent out a VERY DETAILED EMAIL (with links and caps!!!) to every comm she was involved in, detailing all of the evidence against her, and she was forced to come clean.

Suggesting she likely would have kept this up had she not been called out.

I have no idea what to say. Probably I just haven't been involved in the right fandoms, and I KNOW I haven't been on many LJ comms, but I'm still entirely speechless.

I'm not flabbergasted that someone would do something like this, because it's the internet and humanity and wherever the twain shall meet, et cetera, but I've never actually encountered it personally before, even peripherally. And then I got sucked into reading the entire account on msscribe, also, and I.

Shit like this happens in fandom all the time. I can think of several incidents spread over the last decade that I can remember. But this is pretty fucking low, to take advantage of military wives like that.

I did think sometimes her comments about Australia were a bit hard to identify with...like her fight with mirhanda. I NEVER would have suspected anything like this, though
