Early Tuesday morning it was brought to our attention that koken23 was not who she was claiming to be, an accusation that was proven to be true within minutes.

She quickly released a statement:

"Jules is fictional. She's a character in a novel I've been writing - a younger version of the novel character - and I made this blog to flesh her out, to see if I could get into her head. Along the way, she became a sort of escape for me".

Thus, she was removed from her responsibilities as a moderator for not being real.

ifkr!? A different study group found him and incorporated them into their project and I was like "NO. I'M INVITING MYSELF TO THE DINNER. I'M GOING. I'M MEETING THIS GUY." The 'character' was a photographer who enjoyed marking ARGs and fighting for the rights of fictional characters. Asking him some really basic questions about how he felt about the fact that he made up and developed his own without enlightening them to their fictional-ness made it clear that this guy had never really been... cross-examined. It was like some kind of hipster grad school english major inception bullshit.

lol

I mean, if you're going to make out that you're really a fictional character living in a real person's body, then at least... make up a cooler character than a random photographer who fights for fictional characters ~rights? Pretend to be a millionaire married to a celebrity, at least.

I am now legit wondering what 'fictional characters rights' actually are.

I honestly can't remember but I think he was saying they should be legally recognized or something. Like, he claimed to be a fictional character that was self-aware and enjoyed making ARGs and most definitely was not himself an ARG but it just got kind of tiresome talking to him because he contradicted most of what he said by saying that he wrote fiction and had never thought about how his characters might feel that they're being used and not informed... it was weird.

So, he was suggesting all characters are real? That's just a freaky thought. I've made up a lot of characters in my life, and now I'm wondering if they exist in some parallel universe and carry on living out their lives, but always completely unfinished, and with a few plotholes for good measure. :P

Idk if he claimed they were 'real' but I think his implication was that they could become self-aware, or at least that he did. I think that was another of the holes in his story, that he slowly gained his 'memories' over time but couldn't explain just how he became self-aware, or how to tell other fictional characters to break their chains. It was a weird dinner.

It sounds like it. I totally understand your morbid curiosity, though. I'd be very tempted to go myself.
