Relive one of the most emotionally exhausting days of my life, when 138 couples got married in downtown Seattle on the first day gay marriage was officially legal. Wow.


1. The first I time got chills was when I got to City Hall and saw these women showing off their homemade "23" bouquets for 23 years together.

Tears in my eyes!! I figure with all the nasty stuff going on lately, some happy was in order. We just found out yesterday my partner's half-brother is now formally engaged to the lovely man he has been with for 14yrs, and they are having much fun making wedding plans. :)

As for comments on this piece, they so far do not seem to be too bad... shocking!

OKAY sooo. The text totally didn't look that huge on the preview. And it's still not looking that big on the ontd_p page. But it's looking huge on my friends list. Should I leave it or just stick all the text under the cut since it doesn't look bad here?

I was mostly coming here to add the 18 Declarations of Love link, because that made me cry even more than the main link, but you beat me to it. I especially tear up when I see the people who have been love for decades.

Yes! I really went back and forth between posting this one or the 18 Declarations first, but I figured that if I posted the 18 Declarations I would probably end up posting ALL THE PHOTOS and some people's internet connections might kill me >_>

I kept bawling seeing those photos of the elderly couples. Folks that have been together fifteen, twenty, thirty years. Good gods. *sniffles*

Aww, this is awesome. I can't wait until everyone in every state can do this and it's no different than a multi-racial or multi-cultural marriage where there are always some assholes but most of us don't care.

Man, pictures of same-sex couples getting hitched is a WAY better anti-depressant than anything my doctor could prescribe.

Things that make these photosets even better: Interracial couples. Gay folks' kids. Many different gender presentations. Cute older couples who have been together for decades. The guy who is in charge of making sure there are enough tissues.
