Cuba has been swept by a new craze - the red, white and blue of the UK's flag.
The Union flag is now all the rage, sported by young Cubans on their clothes, nails - and even spotted as tattoos, and shaved into the back of people's heads.
While for some it is just another fashion symbol, others say the trend began with the London Olympics, which were followed avidly in Cuba and hugely popular.

OP: This is nice. I'd like to hire a big ol' plane and bring them all over for a visit! And yep, Union flag, it's only the Union Jack when it's on a ship.

Oh my god, you would have the best food in the world if you did that. Seriously, Cuban food (Latin-American food in general, really) is fucking delicious.
Apropos of nothing, but I've got a Union Flag keychain that I've had the last...8 years? Because my dad grew up in London and his sense of humor and viewpoint is still very, very British.
The trend is random, but kinda cool. I think we have a pretty nice looking flag, but then maybe I'm a bit biased because I'm currently living out of the country and feeling nostalgic :p
Whilst the country of my roots on this island isn't actually represented in the Union flag - Wales was 'included' as part of England when the flag was originally created - I do think it is cooler than a lot of the national flags out there. I actually find the stories behind flags to be fascinating; why a symbol was chosen, how a flag has developed and changed throughout history...
