Hamas prevents humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza

6:44 pm - 06/07/2010
The bulk of the humanitarian aid from the Turkish flotilla that has been confiscated by Israel has been released and is awaiting delivery to Gaza, however Hamas prevents the goods from being delivered according to Der Spiegel.

"The aid shipment that the Palestinian activists' flotilla was hoping to bring to Gaza before they were halted by Israeli commandos is now awaiting delivery. But Hamas will only let the badly needed goods into the territory under certain conditions. "

When and if Hamas eventually lets the goods in, it is unlikely that they will reach these in need. Most probably that the aid will be distributed among Hamas supporters.

"Hamas supporters get prefabricated housing, furnishings and paid work. We get nothing"

I've found that it's a lot harder to find people who support Israel blindly than finding people who support the Palestinians blindly.

Easy to do what?

naatz 7th-Jun-2010 10:57 pm (UTC)
As an Israeli, I have yet to meet one. {Well, there were those few Egyptians -- but they were rather bizarre.}

There's a few knocking around this community - chances are you'll run into them eventually. Biggest ones are probably gruimed and mayush17.
gruimed 7th-Jun-2010 11:03 pm (UTC)
It is quite telling that the only two examples you could think of both happen to be Israelis.
paulnolan 7th-Jun-2010 11:06 pm (UTC)
Only two?

merig00. Who isn't Israeli.

Now apologise for whatever you were insinuating with the "it is quite telling" comment.
gruimed 7th-Jun-2010 11:09 pm (UTC)
So we have one out of a few hundreds probably which definitely proves the original point that "it's a lot harder to find people who support Israel blindly than finding people who support the Palestinians blindly"
paulnolan 7th-Jun-2010 11:10 pm (UTC)
Can't say I've seen any blind support of Palestine here, much as you seem to like implying otherwise.
gruimed 7th-Jun-2010 11:12 pm (UTC)
Funny comment. Not much chances you would understand why, though. The operative word is of course being blind.
paulnolan 7th-Jun-2010 11:13 pm (UTC)
Nice wordplay - pity it's absolutely meaningless.

Go smug up some other thread please.

Who are both Israeli. I don't know mayush17, but from my above discussions with gruimed, he's not a die-hard, follow-Israel-blindly sort of guy. Like I said earlier, this community is apparently not doing so well at reading and understanding frustrated Israelis' rhetoric, and this level of frustration is definitely not blind support. I suspect that mayush17 is rather similar, but again, I don't know her.

paulnolan 7th-Jun-2010 11:08 pm (UTC)
There's non-Israeli ones too (e.g. merig00 - they just sprung to mind as the most vocal ones over this last week.
naatz 7th-Jun-2010 11:22 pm (UTC)
I just went back to read merig00's comments -- nope, no blind support there. S/He expresses clear dislike of the settlements.

paulnolan 7th-Jun-2010 11:25 pm (UTC)
Read some posts from earlier in the week and hopefully you'll see what I mean.
naatz 7th-Jun-2010 11:27 pm (UTC)
I just said I did. That's just plain support, not blind support.

paulnolan 7th-Jun-2010 11:30 pm (UTC)
If you read as far back as I asked I can't see how you could say that. :/

There's a hell of a lot to go through (this week's been pretty hectic here) - don't have any threads on hand.

If you go through here and check the posts with shedloads of comments you should find plenty though.
naatz 7th-Jun-2010 11:52 pm (UTC)
Okay, I saw enough {and I definitely did not want to see a dead body, so thank you for that}. Still not a blind supporter of Israel.

naatz 7th-Jun-2010 11:24 pm (UTC)
I feel sorry for you, then. Blind support for anything is ugly.

gruimed 8th-Jun-2010 06:57 am (UTC)
You assume to much and you know too little. You have absolutely no idea what I want, but you assume that I want something that goes along with your views. The same is correct about pretty much every event I read your opinion on - you form your opinion without bothering to actually understand what and why happened there.
