Black History Month With radiovolume, Day One

Another year, another month of trivializing the history and contributions of black people. As I said last year: "I'm going to try this thing where I find really good pieces about black history (around the world), and not just some random facts about peanut butter. Hopefully these articles will amount to more than just an amalgamation of historical trivia. Let me know if you have any ideas!" Here we go:

I chose this as the first post not only because I think it is an incredible example of black intellectualism, but because the words she uses to describe how we should speak to people are increasingly relevant, especially in regard to social justice activism and how we as a community often times choose to deal with one another. TL;DR, Lauryn Hill is the fucking truth.

Nothing specific but I was watching PBS a couple weeks ago and they were airing a show on the Haitian Revolution. Maybe you can find some cool stuff about Louverture and Dessalines.
