I love Cornel West's books but I cannot handle this mean in real life. He looks touched. Like he would just break down with the Shakes mid-conversation, speaking tongues. OOGA BOOGA BOOGA!

I mean really, he looks crazy even next to George Clinton. I want to screen cap parts of this video, his expressions are killing me.

I loved this interview! I also love Fenris' essays!

I hate to admit this, but before this interview I used to hate Cornel West and I don't even remember why. (Maybe he bashed Bush?) Now I'm really interested in his writings.

Goddamn, this guy talks and you're like...I can't stop listening. *blinks* And then listening to Ferguson's accent. I know I have to go get my medication, but I don't want to pull myself away from my computer. I'm sure I have more to comment, but I'm still relatively new to Cornel West, so I love this. I keep saying this on each post, but this is probably the first year I've really appreciated Black History. I've always taken it for granted in the past.

Yes! I'm supposed to be preparing for a midterm study group, but once I saw the first video segment I just had to keep watching. SO GOOD.

Cornel West is such an inspiring thinker.

Have you listened to the weekly radio program he does with Tavis Smiley? It's quite good.

Cornel West is effing brilliant. Srsly. The way his work is deeply rigorous and yet designed to be an example of the tradition of public intellectuals, where the knowledge uplifts and informs a wider audience rather than being restricted to an academic publication somewhere....

HIS WHOLE APPROACH IS MADE OF AWESOME.

And, I swear to you, listening to his theological perspective really moves me. He combines social justice and Christianity in such a mindblowingly awesome way. Keeping the links between love and justice close.

Yeah, I was taken aback when I got to that part. It was so unnecessary. If I hadn't planned on doing a music post tomorrow I would have just cut out the last two videos entirely since West doesn't speak much in them.

Fucking love Dr. West, that man is a national treasure. He and Amy Goodman and a few others are people over whom I would jizz my pants upon meeting.

Also Craig once again proves why he's the best late night host ever: He actually has on people like Dr. West and writers and thinkers aside from the usual actor/comedian/celebrity bullshit, he's by far the most queer-friendly of the major late night hosts, and when he's with a great mind he holds his own easily. Conan is an amateur by comparison.
