Breaking News: Sarah Palin is NOT Running for President

9:44 pm - 10/05/2011

Sarah Palin, former Alaska governor and Tea Party favorite, announced Wednesday that she is not running for president, saying, "my family comes first."

She revealed her intentions on a conservative talk-radio show.

In a statement she issued to the Mark Levin Show and read by Levin on the air, Palin said:

"After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking 2012 GOP nomination for president of the United States. As always, my family comes first and obviously Todd and I put great consideration into family life before making this decision."

She added: "I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office — from the nation's governors to congressional seats and the presidency."

In her statement, she said, "It's not about me, it's about all of us who are trying to wake up America."

She added that she will "help coordinate strategies to assist in replacing the president, re-taking the Senate, and maintaining the House."

Guess she's done flogging her book.

I heard a guy thank Steve Jobs for, as a final act, knocking Palin off the newsfeed. (sorry if too soon)
squee4242 6th-Oct-2011 04:54 am (UTC)
@DaveHolmes: In his final act of benevolent genius, Steve Jobs overshadows Sarah Palin. Rest in peace, you fucking stud.
executivehpfan 6th-Oct-2011 04:07 am (UTC)
WELL THANK FUCK, something good came out of this day after all.

Semi OT (it's Palin, so she too sets feminism back): I just reiterated to my mother that I'm never physically giving birth to any spawn and she said, "That's such a waste." SMH.
shorofsky 6th-Oct-2011 04:58 am (UTC)
Yeah, I'm trying to get my husband to understand that I will never be doing that either and it's going pretty sucky because he feels that all women must have a natural inclination to spawn. Not so much for me, it seems. Exciting stuff...

This means she'll go away, right? A presidential run was always the end game, and now she's not running which means she'll stop forever?
juunanagou18 6th-Oct-2011 04:59 am (UTC)
That sounds too easy.

She'll be back.

Im so angered & hurt right tonight. Ive donated so much time & money, traveled to New Hamshire spreading campaign literature with Organizing 4 Palin only to have this happen. I feel like Ive been left at the alter? I went to Walmart at 6am yesterday to get The Undefeated dvd but now I feel defeated!!!!! It all means nothing now. I just dont understand what she realized today, that she couldnt have known a month ago or more....why wait until now as if she planned on running?
Theres no other candidate I like. I feel like someone died.
freebacon 6th-Oct-2011 09:59 am (UTC)
9/10, would lol again
makemerun 6th-Oct-2011 10:17 am (UTC)
Sarah Palin thinks she can do more good for the country by not being president?!

Well, you know what they say about broken clocks.

Also "my family comes first"? LOL so that's what those far-out, groovy kids are calling their money these days. Oh Sarah, always up on the slang.
thelilyqueen 6th-Oct-2011 12:23 pm (UTC)
And, it's not like concerns over her family kept her from becoming McCain's running mate four years ago while her teenage daughter was dealing with an unplanned pregnancy. Not that Bristol should be shamed for having gotten pregnant, but I'm sure it WAS a big deal in the Palin household and in her place I don't think I'd want everyone in the US gossiping about it.
livetuned 6th-Oct-2011 11:32 am (UTC)
I hope most of the repub candidates follow her lead.
