An unidentified gay rights activist glitter bombed Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney today during a campaign rally in Eagan, Minnesota. As Mitt took the stage at a warehouse bash, the activist tossed a cup of joyous glitter on the former Massachusetts governor. "The glitter poured over his hair, stuck to his face and shimmered from his navy blazer," breathlessly reports The Washington Post. For those not in the know, glitter bombing is a spectacular tactic used by gay rights and same-sex marriage advocates against LGBT foes. A few notable glitter victims? Karl Rove, Michele Bachmann, Tim Pawlenty, Newt Gingrich, and Dan Savage.
"Oh, I've got glitter in my hair," Romney exclaimed after the glitzy dousing. "That's not all that's in my hair, I'll tell you that. I glue it on every morning, whether I need to or not."
He later crooned a verse of "America the Beautiful."
In related news, the GOP hopeful made a bold/damaging statement Tuesday when explained to CNN anchor Soledad O'Brien that he doesn't care about poor people. In an interview after winning the Florida primary, Romney said, "I'm not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there. If it needs a repair, I'll fix it. I'm not concerned about the very rich.... I'm concerned about the very heart of America, the 90-95 percent of Americans who right now are struggling." Which is to say, he only cares about the middle class (since they vote.) Oy.

Can someone please tell him that, if he must insist on running for president, could he at least stop telling these painfully unfunny jokes?
/easily amused by shiny things
(Edited because watching your hair is indeed much harder than washing your hair. Damn typos.)

I cant be the only one.
Though, I gotta admit that watching him get glitter-bombed on my local TV station over and over again fills me with glee despite my phobia of glitter.
Mitt Romney says shit that makes life for queer and trans people dangerous. His views help to legitimize and excuse the violence that queer and trans folks face every day of our lives. The abuse, the hate, the violence that we go through it because of Romney and people like him who say we are not human beings. That we do not have the right to live and love as we choose to. He speaks out against gay marriage, says we shouldn't be able to serve openly, that we shouldn't be able to live our lives knowing we have recourse against those who choose to hate and demonize us. It makes us feel like we're alone, that there's something wrong with us, makes us believe the lies that are said about us every day.
When Romney has to live every day in fear of being hurt and killed because of who he is, when he has to navigate a world that says he is not a person, when he has to deal with depression and suicidal thoughts because of what society and friends and family tell him about himself, then he can fucking complain about glitter in his hair.
