As requested here: a roundup post to go state by state, minute by minute on the latest legislation and ignorant statements regarding reproductive rights.

Please add any previous recent posts you feel are relevant to the theme and discuss at length. I am going to try to make as many starter threads as possible to keep things moderately organized!

Feds to stop funding women's health program because Texas excluding PP from getting any of program's money.

Followed by...

Governor Perry's brilliant idea to fund women's health program by taking money from health and human services....

This is typical of Perry. The $$$ shell game is one he plays often, instead of, y'know, pull money out from the Rainy Day Fund. Or just stop being an asshat and allow PP to get funding from the federal program.

ETA: Another link, this one is a little harder to read than the others. Actually, it's a lot harder to read than the others. I wish they made all of the jackasses at the Lege. and Perry read it.

Perry has done one thing right: made my step-grandmother so pissed off she's going to vote Democratic for the first time since Kennedy. Apparently most of the women in her sunday school class are doing the same. Nothing pissed off 70 year old women more than seeing their grand-daughter deprived of the rights they've gained during their life times.

That's the only upside to Perry's antics this year and the shit that has gone on since the Lege met last year. I just hope Texans are pissed off to not only switch parties this November, but SHOW UP TO THE POLLS. Turnout in Texas is so damn piss poor. On the bright side, it is a presidential election year, which has the highest turnout.

Texas is big on voter intimidation. It easy to keep voter turn out low when most of the population is either turned away, lied to about when and where to go, or have been convinced they're not allowed to vote. D:
