yeah....its been, what, two days now, and my Dad Who Watches Politics Religiously hasn't heard anything about it, and he flips between channels enough to be able to watch them all at the same time.

I would be pissed, except that I've come to expect this kind of shit from Santorum and the Republicans in general. Their constant assholery has desensitized me to the point where it's just eyeroll and move on...

I know people think he would be an easier candidate for Obama to beat in a general but the idea of him even being that close to the office of President scares the ever loving fuck out of me. I'd rather have flip flopping, patronizing Mittens any day. And I think/hope Obama can beat them both.

What makes me ill about this isn't just how flippant he is about his near-slip...I have never liked hearing the "n" word (I have a filthy fucking mouth but I refuse to say or even type out/write that word), mainly because even before that word gained a racial connotation, its original meaning is "ignorant person". Um, last time I checked, ignorance is not exclusive to a single race...

Hmm, interesting interpretation by someone at the Guardian blog;

Personally I don't doubt that he meant to say the N word but the dog-whistle theory also makes an awful kind of sense.

What makes me incredibly sad is that his anti-porn comments probably cost him more support than this racist slip-up...

All I know is this. IF Santorum had any chance whatsoever at the presidency, he just threw it in the dirt, squatted over it, and took a big ol' shit on it.

As much as I hate to say it...this pleases me.

But ye gods. I'm sad for my country. I was just bitching today about how when my boyfriend and I go out, we get stared at, all the time, and often disapprovingly (I'm mixed black/white/Native American, he's fully white, and we're sometimes accompanied by his young son, who is practically as fair as they come). The racism in this country is just ridiculous. At least when I lived in Finland, people refrained from dropping the N-bomb.

Well if people aren't put off by him being against the separation of church and state, I highly doubt they'll care about him being racist, too. Ignorance seems to come in package deals with things like racism and pettiness, after all.

I'll be so glad when the primary is over and he leaves Wisconsin. GTFO my state.
