I've had a fucking emotional ass day and I'm sitting here crying because I can't believe I live in this country anymore. Nothing, nothing will ever prevent someone from debasing someone to a simple ignorant and horrible term merely because of their skin color. No one is safe from scorn. If you can call the President of the United Fucking States a 'nigger' than who can't you? What are POCs supposed to think of this? How the fuck do you even RESPOND to this?

I'm seething.

I don't know if it'll help much, but here, have a hug. *hug*

Thanks dear! I appreciate it :)

You aren't the only one. I'm waiting for America to just implode from it's own hatred. I felt like, for a very long time, that America's downfall is going to be it's racism, and I feel like we're getting closer and closer to that end. America is on it's way to collapse, and it won't be due to class, greed, or anything of that ilk. It will be due to it's hate.

This is exactly how I feel. It makes me so sad and so utterly exhausted from trying anymore, how can one fight so much hate?
hinoema 30th-Mar-2012 08:45 am (UTC)
I can only hope that all this hatred and fear is largely the death throes of a generation we'll largely be better off without.

This is how I honestly have been feeling for a while now. I commented in another board how it just feels like there's gonna be that *one thing* that's gonna set off a chain of actions that have been bubbling under the service waiting to be activated. There's just way too much hatred and vitriol.

First thought: Oh good, it's not just me that feels this exact way, then.

Second thought: Oh shit! It's NOT just me that feels this exact way, then.

This. :(

Well said and agreed.

I know your feels, hon'. There aren't words in any language on this planet to appropriately convey how fucking frustrated I am with the state of racial and gender issues in this country right now. I'm so sick to death of having to react to this fuckwittery.

It's days like today that just make me want to throw up my hands and say I AM DONE. I am tired of fighting sexism, racism, ableism, inequality, because what's the point? What is the damn point when things like this still happen and you know it's sure as hell going to be defended by every conservative out there.

I'm so sick of being outraged. Ugh.
angry_chick 30th-Mar-2012 07:08 am (UTC)
I've been having this conversation with my boyfriend, and he's basically saying something that I feel makes some sense - which is that this is their last real stand before they are consumed wholly by their own hate, and when they hit that point, they're done.
zharia 30th-Mar-2012 07:09 am (UTC)
I could get behind this, only because I need something to further my resolve. And it does make sense. I can't remember rhetoric being as inflammatory as these past few months have been.
angry_chick 30th-Mar-2012 07:17 am (UTC)
Yeah. He's being quite the optimist, and I love him for it.

Meanwhile, I'm running the gamut in emotions.

REALISM: Well, it was going to happen eventually.
PESSIMISM: God, Americans are still going to like this piece of shit.
daydream11 31st-Mar-2012 05:21 am (UTC)
My boyfriend says that, too. "The most dangerous animal is a wounded one. It'll die, but it might take you out first."

Or something like that.

It makes it hard to even want to bother. No matter how hard you fight, sometimes it feels entirely worthless because people can't let go of their hatred. Comfortable middle-class heterosexual Christian cismales hold most of the power, and they don't want to relinquish any of it or the accompanying prejudice it comes with. They take glee in keeping everyone except that elite class in their "proper" places.

It's easy to want to give up. It feels like conservatives are the ones who are only folks stopping the country from MOVING FORWARD, but they're also the loudest and refuse to bend. Just... goddammit. It's frustrating.

Not even gonna lie, I had a hard time dealing with this 'cause a wave of emotions overcame me. You can even ask OP 'cause I edited my comment several thousand times. /is sorry. I felt a mix of...I don't even know. At first, it was blind hatred. Then it was anger and then irritation. After, it was joy because his campaign is pretty much over. Then it was confusion. Now it's just back to hatred. 'Cause I hate him and everything he chooses to be.

Yeah...very confusing.
furrygreen 30th-Mar-2012 09:40 am (UTC)
I'm with you too. People are being shoved out on the streets, we're fighting unjustified wars, all our jobs are going overseas, and the gov'n lets big businesses steal homes from its own people. And that's not even including all this horrible racism, sexism, and denial that gay people are (gasp) people.

How can we live in this country? I feel like everything we were taught in school was a fucking lie. I feel betrayed and when I think of that childhood pride, I feel even worse. Bleh.
fishphile 30th-Mar-2012 10:15 am (UTC)
So many hugs. I understand your feelings. It can be overwhelming sometimes.
fuyuhimi 30th-Mar-2012 11:17 am (UTC)
I relate to your 'how on earth does someone even respond to this' feeling, a lot.

There really isn't much to say with 'hope you feel better', but yeah, I hope creeps like this won't turn you away.
false_hate 30th-Mar-2012 11:53 am (UTC)
Virtual hug. The public regression of basic human decency is disgusting and ugly right now in politics.
bnmc2005 Optimistic Argument? 30th-Mar-2012 02:29 pm (UTC)
My girl gets really down about shit like this pops up all over the place like, every other day. Politicians dehumanize blacks, immigrants, gays, etc. on a daily basis in order to appeal to the worse level of their base. It's fucking enraging.

I try to argue that the shit we hear about is depressing but at least we're hearing about it. And we hearing about it because somewhere someone know it's bullshit and there HAS to be a discussion about it.

So that's my own attempt to try and see some light in this. At least it's being called out. I'm glad it's being discussed It HAS TO BE talked about because it would be worse if it happened and the media was like, "meh" . This is NOT going to just slide by without notice or concern. We see all kinds of ignorance and that will never go away but as long as we have the wherewithal to fight back and call it out- I can keep my head up.
