Couldn't agree more. I live near an NHS hospital and it feels great walking past knowing that through my contributions I have maybe kept the lights on, paid a nurse's wages, kept a life support machine on or put petrol in the tank of an ambulance. It feels like I am doing something good for someone. That's what I think anyway.

So much this. My husband and I are both more than happy to pay taxes towards it knowing it does so much good for so many people.

See, that's how I view paying taxes and stuff like that. It goes towards the good of society, people taking care of each other, stuff like that.

I just don't understand why people get so gorram pissy about paying taxes. And then they'll complain OH THE POLICE DON'T WORK OH CRIME SO HIGH, OH ROADS ARE SHIT, WATER MAINS BURST AND I GOT NO WATER, NO TRANSIT, SCHOOLS SUCK.

Sigh.

Speaking of which, I really need to get hopping on that freaking tax filing.

I swear, people don't seem to actually know that their taxes pay for things we all use every day. I think that literally everything paid for fully or partially by tax dollars needs to have "paid for by taxes" stamped on it with neon colors accompannied by blinking lightsfor people to get it.

right? to me, paying taxes kind of keeps this whole "society" thing together; provides us with necessary services... and like you listed off, everybody benefits from at least one service that tax dollars are used from ffs if it's not roads then libraries or the police department. THE GOVERNMENT IS STEALIN ALL MY HARD-EARNED MONEY FOR ALL THOSE PEOPLE ON WELFARE GOT DAMMIT!!1
