Wisc. Dems: Ad shows GOP thinks women belong in the kitchen

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin on Thursday blasted Republicans over a television advertisement attacking Rep. Donna Seidel, a candidate in the upcoming recall election for the 29th State Senate District.

The ad by the Republican State Leadership Committee accused Seidel of having the wrong “recipe” for Wisconsin.

“Ads like this one, funded by out-of-state special interest groups, are sexist and embarrassing,” Zac Kramer, executive director for the State Senate Democratic Committee, said. “They should all be ashamed of their continued attacks on women. The ad continues the war on women that has been a popular talking point across the GOP platform.”

“It is clear that the Republican party believes that women only belong in the kitchen and this should be disconcerting to every citizen in the 29th Senate District.”

Seidel is running against Rep. Jerry Petrowski in the June 5 elections.

State Sen. Pam Galloway, the Republican who represented the 29th Senate District and faced a recall election, resigned from her seat in March.

Watch the ad, uploaded to YouTube on April 11, below:

Not just poor word choice - not when her faults are shown on recipe cards! Apparently they not only want us back in the kitchen, but back in the 1950s before there were recipes on-line.

It's easier to tote one around the kitchen than my laptop, plus I don't care if the cards get splattered.

Plus I've had them since around 1982.

yup.

I usually print out recipes I find online and keep them in a scrap-book type folder.

I LOVE hand written recipe cards but... yeah, the symbolism of a female's job history being tied up in food and kitchen based symbolism is omg - wow.

Ok, you got me - I have recipe cards as well, but honestly, I haven't created a new one in years.

I have, BUT, I was re-copying one I've had for many years and it had so many splatters on it that it was hard to read.

Most people who I know who are serious cooks/bakers still do, or a recipe journal.

I got one of those, with taped pictures of the creations so I know what it's supposed to look like (visual learner) and scribbled notes about how this recipe can be improved by _____. I find recipes to be more of suggestions anyway.

That's exactly what she does.

Fuck them. Fuck them all.
