Man, that's a really well-done video. I am not even an Obama stan and it impressed the fuck out of me and made me proud to have voted for him. Dude knows how to run a campaign, that's for damn sure.
It was just so smartly done. It manages to package Obama as an extremely productive, well-rounded President. It barely goes negative on the Republicans at all and doesn't even really see fit to mention Mitt Romney, like Mittens is an insignificant threat.
Yes, he's done some good, but I am so pissed that he sold us out to the insurance companies. I mean, of course I'll vote for him, who else am I going to vote for? Some Green party candidate who'll just insure Romney wins? But I don't think Obama is all sunshine and roses, and he's now just "the lesser of two evils" to me.
Putting Bin Laden in there makes me sick. Everything about killing him was so wrong and explains best why America always acts like a spoilt child that can do whatever and not put a Bin Laden in a international tribunal is just...
Yeah, sorry. But putting this in a comercial is just so vile to me.
I can definitely see that what we did regarding Osama was totally wrong. However, it's a smart move on Obama's part to stir the emotions of average Americans, who only think about how the guy was one of the masterminds behind 9/11.
That's pretty good campaigning right there. I wonder who was responsible for that; I know the Obama campaign works with several agencies, I wonder which one did this.
to be honest, given the millions and millions of dollars that are spent on campaigning and the fact that these guys can afford the best media people I find it far more interesting when candidates fall on their faces (like, who in the hell is advising Romney and why can't they get him to stop putting his feet in his mouth?).
I expect anyone at this stage in the game to have a slick ad campaign
Yeah. It's not like Obama just whipped this thing up on his own - he hired the best he could afford to get. Of course it's going to be slick and make him look awesome! He's using people from the same industry that once convinced American women that we all needed to douche with freaking Lysol.
I'm not going to watch this because I'm not letting myself get wrapped up in fuck yeah hopey changey rhetoric again when the things that are important to me are the things he fights for the least (education reform at all levels, public option, etc). I'll be voting for him, obviously, but I'm not getting my hopes up for his second term.
Fabulous video. Legit tear in my eye when he said 'welcome home' to the troops. Eep.
Also, this just made me want to like, live in the US. I know it's not all dandy down there, but if immigrants were hemming and hawing over which country to go with, all they'd need to do is watch this video and bam, decision made.
I'm not a big fan of political ads. I just... can't take them seriously.
That said, I really, really hope that this is a sign that Obama is going to quit with the bipartisan compromise bullshit. Pander to your base, not the people who are determined to hate you no matter what.
I think he's going to boot the bipartisanship now, definitely. For campaigning purposes, it gives him a leg up over the Republicans, because he can emphasise what obstructionist pieces of shit they've been. And for legislative purposes in his second term, he doesn't have to worry about getting re-elected, so he can take them to town in a way he couldn't before for fear of alienating moderate conservatives (because I think moderates were pretty much disgusted with the Republicans all the way, although I could be wrong).
I really love campaign ads, even when they're for candidates that I don't support. I just find it fascinating how much of politics is just knowing exactly how to manipulate people and how to put together an appealing package. That being said, I have a lot of hope for a second term. I think that, without the pressure of trying to get reelected, Obama won't pander to the Republicans as much as he has this term.
Yup. I know there are a lot of things that people have complained that he hasn't done, but honestly... I'm waiting to see what he does in a second term, when he doesn't have to worry about getting re-elected. He is much more free to slip the gloves off at that point.
I'd like to use this video with some students. Is there a Romney one that would be somehow equivalent for compare/contrast? Or something that outlines Romney's platform?
lolol good luck, Mittens. Ask your parents for some dollar bills to wipe away your tears.

The conventions should be fun.
How long before conservatives cry, "OMG BIASED SOURCESSSSSS!!!"
Anyway, that was a great video and a great way to answer the question, "But what has he done?"
