Is there something going around? Because omonatheydidn't just did there FFA too. LMFAO, are people joining forces to skip a day, and go straight to the weekend? Or have we been...LOKI'D!
layweed 3rd-May-2012 11:13 pm (UTC)
WHAT THIS IS? I DO NOT UNDERSTANDZ

Anyway, we should totally turn this into an ONTDP FRONDZZZZZZZZ POST. We haven't had one in a very long time. I think it's necessary with all these weird strange people who have suddenly turned up.
koken23 3rd-May-2012 11:20 pm (UTC)
Let's do a FRONDING POAST. I am behind this idea.

I have a raid in less than an hour and my primary machine's video card is hosed. This is going to be the second time in 5 months that I've had to replace a video card and I'm just a couple days out of the return window so I'm SOL there too. FML.

Fortunately my MacBook can step in as a usable WoW machine if I have to, but... you know. And tonight's just a part 2 of a normal 10-man Dragon Soul we started on Tuesday.

Blaaaaah.
rhodanum 3rd-May-2012 11:25 pm (UTC)
5 months? Damn, that's a pretty short turnover. Did you overclock it or fiddle with the BIOS settings, by any chance? I used to work in a PC hardware shop a few years back and the problem I was seeing every day was inevitably a fried GPU or CPU due to OC done wrong.

If not... is it one of the GeForce GPUs under the Gainward emblem? I've consistently had only trouble with those, until they got ditched for Asus and some Sapphire models of the ATI line.

I had a job interview yesterday but the pay is not worth me accepting an offer if offered since it would barely cover the cost of gas to commute. I did come back home with two applications for some seasonal work, hoping to get some so that I can at least pay for books this fall.

Also last night was my aquarium's volunteer appreciation party. The food was awesome and fun times with fellow volunteers!
lizzy_someone 4th-May-2012 12:28 am (UTC)
I'm thinking of volunteering at an aquarium, what sort of stuff do you do there?
prehnite 3rd-May-2012 11:22 pm (UTC)
Today is p. much Friday for me because I finished all of my finals today, and I'm just so happy and relieved that this semester is over I could weep. But instead I'm listening to Rumpelstiltskin in Love from the OUAT soundtrack and dicking around on Tumblr.
othellia 4th-May-2012 12:32 am (UTC)
They released a soundtrack??? :D
poetic_pixie_13 3rd-May-2012 11:26 pm (UTC)
Lawd. Speaking of fuck ups. I made out with this guy on Monday and he tells me after that it was his first time making out with someone. I spent the rest of the night feeling like a terrible person because oh god please don't read anything into this it's an end of the year party and we've both been drinking and wtf. My slight paranoia wasn't helped by the fact he told me he loves Zooey Deschanel. I tend to attract folks who think I'll be their Manic Pixie Dream Girl and change~ them.

So, yeah, I texted him the next day and told him it was a one-time thing. He said he understands. He's a sweet guy but emotionally he's really young. Obviously, as why would you tell someone that after making out with them oh lawd.
the_gabih 3rd-May-2012 11:33 pm (UTC)
The worst is when they tell things like that to someone you're with. Then it gets -really- awkward.
shellazure Tune in to MSNBC at 9:30 central!3rd-May-2012 11:30 pm (UTC)
Well this works out because I wanted to post this but it doesn't warrant it's own post:

MSNBC tonight at 9:30 central is Rep. Zach Wyatt's first national interview re: this post: Don't Say Gay Bill Prompts Lawmaker to Come Out

I've been having serious issues with insomnia lately -- to the point where I'll stay awaken almost 48 hours straight, up until my body just does a hard shut-down and I'll collapse for another 20 hours straight. I know very well that it's doing nothing good for my other health-issues, but there's not much I can do about it, short of going on some of the more potent sedatives -- and that I refuse to do.

Even the times when I do sleep aren't all that great, because I'll inevitably have dozens of nightmares, one after the other. I suspect that work-related stress is to blame here. I work in TV broadcasting and while the team is absolutely fantastic, there is some pressure. Added on top of that is that I'm slowly turning into the primary breadwinner for this household and still don't know how I feel about that.

Then there's the fact of having to also carry two people that are more than fit do their own walking. Apparently anything below a thousand euro per month is below their dignity and they'd rather stay utterly unemployed, on no benefits at all, rather than work for less than that. (As an aside, I barely touch 500 euro a month, on a position that would be paid an obscene sum in a Western European country, to give you an idea about the wages in this country).
kira_snugz 4th-May-2012 01:53 am (UTC)
i read something the other day that suggested you are more likely to have nightmares when you are cold in your sleep. next time you do crash, maybe toss an extra blanket on.

i have insomnia too, i've been cycling 3 days awake, about 21 hours asleep. i don't want to take heavy drugs either.

i hope you get some nightmare free sleep

I'm learning how to play Magic with my SO's friends. Almost won the second game!

What kind of deck/cards should I make up?

Unrelated but finally decide on which programs to apply for at college: Adminstrative Assistant and/or TESOL. Going to an info session for the second choice next week but won't apply till August or November. :') So excited!

Has anyone else been seeing articles about how Paul Ryan is a "hot internet meme" because someone's trying to use the Hey Girl meme on Paul Ryan unironically?

Apparently what's really happening is the person who started that tumblr has a bunch of friends in political reporting, because I went over to look at it and everything has like three notes.

So if the jackasses in the supreme court rule healthcare reform unconstitutional, does that mean people under 26 but out of college who are now covered by their parents' insurance are no longer covered? Because that would be... awesome...
recorded 4th-May-2012 07:48 am (UTC)
I thought it was in court for a specific section; the one that requires people to get health insurance and fines them if they don't have it? Haven't been following it though, just hearsay. Anyone know for sure?
brittlesmile My love live, let me tell you it. 3rd-May-2012 11:50 pm (UTC)
So I'm studying abroad in France this semester, and I've been seeing this French girl who I met last summer when she was in the US (even in France, she's in a different city than I am though, so it's still kind of complicated - kind of a 'when we're together, we're together' type thing). But I'm heading back to the US in like a month, and neither of us want a long distance relationship, so it's pretty much a given that things between us are going to change in the near future. And I'm okay with that. But right now, I'm in this weird place where I know that this is ending, but it's not over yet.

However, we both have pretty good track records of staying friends with ex's, so I'm cautiously optimistic on that front.
poetic_pixie_13 4th-May-2012 12:15 am (UTC)
Try and enjoy the time you have. It's going to be weird, but you two also know it's ending so you don't really have to worry about some of the "what if I do this wrong and end this" that comes along with a relationships.

I had a job interview yesterday! It's not in my field but I think it would be pretty interesting anyway. I thought it went well.

Ummmmmm rn I am trying to build a website for my dad. I haven't built a website since like 1999 (yeah Geocities!) and am a bit out of my depth. AHahaha I'll figure this shit out eventually.
recorded 4th-May-2012 07:51 am (UTC)
Install wordpress! Pick a theme :) Most themes let you customize pretty easily. If you can figure out basic html/php/css, you can really customize the layouts. Wordpress will also make it easy for your dad to go in and edit things if he knows how to use microsoft office (it's pretty similar).

One thing about wordpress is that you have to have a php & database enabled host, but most hosting packages have this. It's got really easy to follow install instructions though :)

Music: Mostly punk/hardcore/queercore, industrial and romantic (Chopin & co., not love songs...), but I don't limit myself.

Other shit: BIG gamer, especially RPGs (Western and Japanese - it's all good) and stuff with a lot of exploring - Metroidvanias, Zelda-type Action-Adventures, Minecraft & Terraria... Oh and Silent Hill - I loves me my Silent Hill (at least before America got its hands on it).

No live post for the UK local elections tonight? The Tories are getting a right kicking - Warsi's expecting them to lose 800-1000 seats. 'Tis nice. :)

WHAT GAMES HAVE YOU BEEN PLAYING THIS WEEK? Carrying on with .flow here, which made me want to play Yume Nikki again so I'm on with that too. Also thinking of starting a FFII file as it's been a while since I played it.

I quit my job last week and I am SF happy! Is this normal? In other news, my family is coming to visit in 4 weeks and they have no clue and one of my friends is getting married is in 5 weeks and I get to go home and wear a hideous dress.
lizzy_someone 4th-May-2012 12:35 am (UTC)
I assume "SF" here means "so fucking," but at first I read it as "San Francisco happy," and I was like, Hmmmm, is this a code-phrase for "gay"?

I voted green. I debated whether I wanted to throw my vote away but since I'm in a labour hold I decided wth and went for it. At least I'm not gonna have a Tory councillor in the morning

Just set up an appointment with my boss for Monday, to discuss a raise. I've never worked a job long enough to earn a raise before. I have no idea what to expect.

From what I understand, though, three and a half years since my last promotion + reliable, quality work = good chance for a decent up, yes?
othellia 4th-May-2012 12:30 am (UTC)
I for one cannot wait for all of the Avengers hype to die down. I'm tired of seeing the word "Avengers" everywhere and leaping up at the chance it has something to do with the 1960s BBC cult classic, and then being invariably disappointed.

*no1curr about Steed and Peel, first world problems, etc*

I got A's in all my classes though so that's good. <3
kira_snugz 4th-May-2012 01:37 am (UTC)
those avengers are awesome too.
i watched the show with my mom when i was younger, and i enjoyed the movie they did.

Steed is so fricking hot. yes please!!! ok, they are both really hot!! and awesome
