" I’m probably being way too sensitive about this, but today I got one of those congratulatory fails from Demand Progress about how well we’ve all been doing with petitions and such. Which is awesome and I’m glad it’s working, but the title of the email really upset me:
Lenora, you’re a cyberbully.
The email explained that this was what a tech company person said of those against CISPA and SOPA, but the way the email was worded really bothered me. Probably cause I’ve been bullied in the passed and it just really really upset me to have an email come in with a title/subject that compares me to that. It just has stuck with me since this morning, bothering me.
Like I said I might just be too sensitive. But it just seemed gross to me."
layweedIt was all downhill after Shenanigans Thursday, tbh. — 4th-May-2012 10:57 pm (UTC)
UGHHHHHHH I FUCKING HATE USPS AND I HATE CAP METRO (the local transit authority).
USPS lost my rent check in the mail. This is the first time it's happened in nearly 4 years. So what happens? I have to take a bus to my apartment management's "office", which happens to be in some suburb somewhere not exactly near where I live. So ok. I find out there's a direct bus that's only about a 20 minute ride. Easy, right? No. I go wait or the bus. Wait....wait....Oh is that the bus? WHY YES IT IS! YAY. Wait. Why the fuck is the bus not turning? OH MY GOD THE DRIVER DECIDED TO TAKE AN UNSCHEDULED DETOUR @#%@#$@#@#^%@#^@#^@#^@#%. So I wait. An hour. For the bus. And I get on it, and it's all good, manage to hand my rent check in, no late fees because I've been 100% perfectly on time every time (except for this incident), and walk back to the bus stop. Only to find the bus won't be here for another hour. GGGGGGGGAHHHHHHHHH. What should have been a 1 hour errand ended up taking closer to 3.5 hours with all the waiting. GODDAMNIT.
If you are located in the DMV (DC, MD, VA) and interested in part time work, please let me know. I am looking for someone to come in three days a week (M,W,F). I can't promise it will go into full time but that's up to my supervisor.
The company I'm working for is a civil rights consulting firm with good pay and benefits.
Oh wow. It's only 55 here (Vancouver, BC obviously lol), nice mixture of sunshine and overcast with dark grey clouds. Good luck on the run and thank you for the PP v-gift!
it's always great when someone sticks it to "artificial gender norms" on tv. too bad so many people are so sickened by lady hair, but hopefully O'Toole ended up inspiring a lot of women and girls.
that article is surprisingly positive for a daily mail posting! I've shaved my legs maybe once in my life and I only shave under my arms because I think it contributes to body odor. I'm glad more women are starting to embrace their bodies as they are naturally.
I’m looking for some book recommendations for my creative writing thesis! Long story short, it’s a romance/thriller novel about a woman who got out of an abusive marriage and is trying to rebuild her life with someone else, only for the ex-husband to start stalking her.
If anyone can rec me any *good* romance books (i.e. that properly develop the romance), or books about stalking/abuse, or books with strong/great characters, please let me know! I’d love any and all suggestions.

I remember Don't Be Afraid by Rebecca Drake being good, but it's more along the thriller/stalker line and the main male and female characters remain platonic.
Ugh you guys, life is best and worst right now. :\
The other day I lost my iPod on the NYC streets. I was getting off a bus and I guess the railing must've hiked up my sweatshirt as I got out, and it fell out of my pocket-- it's all I can think of. I scoured the street but it was nowhere to be found. Thankfully I got a replacement (my aunt is amazing and totally understands that if I do not have my music, a panic attack on public transportation will ensue). But I still feel like a complete arsehole for losing it. :( I filed a claim with the MTA's lost and found, but nothing matching its description has been found.
On the OTHER side of things, I went to the Avengers midnight premiere last night! AND IT WAS AMAZING. That movie is FLAWLESS. So amazing. My girlfriend and I are seeing it again on Sunday! I can't wait. :D
Also also, I'm trying to kick my unhealthy eating habits - which mostly means not eating potato chips unless it's a special occasion. So far so good! I had some last night at the Avengers premier, because Avengers, but that's pretty much it all week. I'm proud of myself. :)
Things are getting srs with my boyfriend and I'm freaking out a little. I like everything about being with him. I think I might want him around all the time, in a for-the-rest-of-my-life kind of way. But I'm about to move halfway across the world for studies and am not at all sure that he would come with me. So far I'm trying to keep worries at bay with cuddles, but as moving day comes closer this is working less and less.
This weekend is my boyfriend's birthday and I'm surprising him with a trip to Cincinnati for his birthday/our anniversary (in two weeks) we're going to go to King's Island because he teases me that I'm afraid of roller coasters.
Totally fucking scared guys, I've never been a big fan of roller coasters but I know he will really like this.
http://i50.tinypic.com/2qlzrsj.jpg this have been growing around a week!?! crazy. they should be sun flowers at some point... i need to move them to something bigger though, i think.
Aww, I love sunflowers! I planted some last year, and they got to over six feet. We dried and kept the flowers (dried-out sunflowers make cool drawing references), but some of the seeds must have fallen out on the lawn because there's a few more coming up this year (currently about seven inches tall). I'm not sure if the random grocery-store variety seed is meant to be used for more than one generation, though, because the ones we have growing now look kind of... mutated. XD Like, all the leaves are different shapes, and not symmetrical. I can't wait to see how the actual flowers end up looking. And yeah, you should definitely think about moving them into something bigger! They grow really fast! XD
I have a ridic surplus of lemons and am trying to use them all so the tree can put all its little tree energy toward making sure the new batch grows nicely, but you guys, a few lemons go a long way. We have had a lot of lemony food lately, though.
Today's experiment: ginger lemonade. It's supposed to be in the 80s this weekend so I think it'll be nice to have.
I don't have work tomorrow and my roommate is gone for the weekend and I'm spending the day at my sensei's house training and helping out with yardwork so I am super excited for this weekend. :D
All I want for the summer: A job (or two) (or three), someone to have awesome sex/cuddle times with, and money to have a social life (which ties in with the job).
I feel like this is not unreasonable. Universe, help a sister out.

my best friend drove two days cross-country to see me and I am so happy. I haven't seen her in over a year, since I moved to Arizona. I am so looking forward to all of the fun things we have planned.
We got our new air conditioner last Saturday, with new ductwork, and it seems to have evened out the heat in our house. When the previous AC got installed, they used a bigger unit since our house had an addition, but they didn't get new ducts, so the AC never got to the west side of the house. Our bedroom always froze and the west side always broiled. Now it's more even.
This helps out our friend who moved in with us, since he had the back room off of the addition. Now it's cooler. The addition where my office moved to is still a little hot, probably due to the windows facing west and its heat-absorbing slate floor.
Our 14-year-old (my stepson) is going to his father's this weekend, leaving just me and my wife with the baby, who may give us some alone time. Or not.

Still bothered by it tbh.
I don't think you're being too sensitive. Even after I read the whole email I side-eyed that subject line.

I need to get a car already. Sigh.
in other news, I'm drunk and I have a second date with a dude I like, so yay for that
So awesome! Didn't just meet, but vastly exceeded my expectations! Haven't seen such a fun movie in a long time! :D
I paid for it all day today at work, running on fumes and two hours of sleep. But so worth it!
Who else saw it? What did y'all think?
Might go see Battle Royale tonight. Never seen it before either!

Thanks!!
Going to try going for a run anyway. Could be a terrible idea, but I'm so restless after this week, omg.
On a good note, I took totally awesome SEM pictures of gonorrhea today. Totally. Awesome.

The bad: my fibro is still hella active, and my insurance is refusing to cover the cymbalta I was prescribed yesterday stating "I don't need it"
FUCK THIS COUNTRY'S INSURANCE/DRUG COMPANIES. I have it prescribed they should cover it. END OF FUCKING STORY. /rant
*fellow autoimmune disorder fistbump* coupled with *hatred of insurance companies fistbump*
XOXO

In my defense though, I was herding 3rd graders all day. 3rd graders who couldn't go outside because of rain.
Oh, and one of my kindergartners yesterday told me that 'grown ups know everything". I wish!
ETA: Page two wants to be the very best, like no one every was. XD
