85 degrees, WAT

Going to try going for a run anyway. Could be a terrible idea, but I'm so restless after this week, omg.

On a good note, I took totally awesome SEM pictures of gonorrhea today. Totally. Awesome.

Oh wow. It's only 55 here (Vancouver, BC obviously lol), nice mixture of sunshine and overcast with dark grey clouds. Good luck on the run and thank you for the PP v-gift!
keeperofthekeys 4th-May-2012 11:58 pm (UTC)
Oh yeah, no problem :)

And I didn't die on my run! Went surprisingly well, actually.

It was 90 here. UGH. I am seriously wondering why I decided to stay in Austin and not seek a job in cooler climes.

ETA: Oh I thought the link was to your SEM pics. I am disappoint. :(

I'm getting the files on Monday, I'll probably post some in my journal then.

I linked "SEM" for people who don't know what it is.

Because then it gets cold!

I feel the same about Miami. Then I remember how badly my skin cracked in winter and my sinus problems and I'm like "oh. Right."
curseangel 4th-May-2012 11:09 pm (UTC)
Ugh it is so hot here D: I cannot find the energy for anything. So not cool.
keeperofthekeys 5th-May-2012 12:01 am (UTC)
Yeah, that's how I was most of this week. I wasn't ready for it to be this hot so quickly!

It was a beautiful 72F here in Los Angeles today. Sunny, breezy... awesomesauce.

But just two weeks ago, it was 108F when I went camping out in the desert. Yipe! D:

With all the academic institutions in CA, it's likely I could end up out there. I'd miss the snow, but I miss the snow where I live now anyway, and the weather in CA seems like it would be a big improvement over the 90-100 degree summers we get here.

Snow's not too far away out here! In the winter (and even the spring), drive about an hour or two from L.A. and you'll be in it!

These were from just last month! --> http://www.flickr.com/photos/jadewolf/sets/72157629827633901/

I'd never seen snow (raised in Florida), but now I'm hooked! And the best part is, it's "on-demand" snow... no shoveling, plowing, salting... just drive up and enjoy at will, then go home and put shorts on. :D

85 degree running makes me want to cry tbh. Stay hydrated!
keeperofthekeys 5th-May-2012 01:08 am (UTC)
I only did 3.something miles, stayed in the shade, and it went surprisingly well! Humidity is not the most awesome for breathing, though.

How are you doing with running and the heat (or coming heat if you haven't been subject to this heat wave)?
crossfire 5th-May-2012 12:46 am (UTC)
Kinda jealous you get to work with an electron microscope tbh.

Not that my job isn't great, but there are no electron microscopes.

I never thought I'd be doing it given my project. But it was sooooooooo cool (not to rub it in, ha!). It was kind of a random thing--I wanted to do it to try and visualize some aspect of my bacterial strains, so I went to my PI and went "Cool pictures are REALLY great for publication. Publications love them. So can I spend like $400 taking pictures?"

And he said yes.

btw THANK YOU for the PP vgift!! I don't have money until next week to return the favour.

It snowed here today. ;_;

I would really like some spring weather right now.
