I have wine, so I am content for now, haha.

And my driver's test is scheduled for the 31st of this month, God help me. :P
layweed 3rd-Aug-2012 10:19 pm (UTC)
Good luck! I want to take mine before the end of the month too.
layweed 3rd-Aug-2012 10:18 pm (UTC)
WHERE ARE THE JOBS, OBAMA? :(

j/k

Job hunting has been going so poopy. Really pissed off at not being able to get past the HR resume screen. I need to tweak my resumes better. So frustrating.
andthelight 3rd-Aug-2012 10:19 pm (UTC)
I had my resume looked at by a...professional resume examiner-type person, and I'm still not getting any jobs. Womp.
rex_dart 3rd-Aug-2012 10:20 pm (UTC)
I would like to know people's favorite places in Ireland. I have been before but I would like to try new things this time.

Restaurants, bars, ruins, beaches, hotels, whatever. Location doesn't matter. Things around Co. Limerick and Donegal are great, but we can go anywhere.
randomcheeses 3rd-Aug-2012 11:02 pm (UTC)
There's King John's Castle in Limerick City. It's pretty interesting. Bunratty Castle and Folk Park in County Clare, about half an hour from Limerick.
handsofclay 3rd-Aug-2012 10:21 pm (UTC)

cher_arlequin BOOK THREAD3rd-Aug-2012 10:24 pm (UTC)
What are you reading, _p?

I just started Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, and a biography of Stephen Tennant.
layweed Re: BOOK THREAD3rd-Aug-2012 10:26 pm (UTC)
Nothing yet, but after watching TDKR on Wednesday, I really want to start reading TDK Returns + TDK Strikes Again, and re-read Batman Year One, and maybe pick up Knightfall.
lovedforaday stupid politcal ads3rd-Aug-2012 10:27 pm (UTC)

is there going to be a post about them this year?
layweed Re: stupid politcal ads3rd-Aug-2012 10:29 pm (UTC)
I hope not. I am so fucking sick of political ads after being flooded with David Dewhurst and Ted Cruz Senate primary runoff ads here in Texas. Tbh, it's enough to make me want to never turn on my tv again until November 7th.
justspaz 3rd-Aug-2012 10:29 pm (UTC)
I'm subletting from a friend this summer, living with two other friends, but not close ones, and neither of them looked at their lease close enough when they signed it to know that they needed to be out by August 21st. Which includes me. Which sucks because move in for my university (I'm doing an internship at the school's Rare Book library) isn't for a week+ later than that. So now I'm stuck trying to find a place to put my microwave, suitcase, and bike for two weeks. One of my roommates might know a place, but if not I'm just thinking of getting some uhaul storage thing (I'm in Philly btw).

At least for those few weeks, after my internship ends next Friday, I'll be home and with my family and best friend.
castalianspring 3rd-Aug-2012 11:21 pm (UTC)
Definitely check with UHaul - when I did my move earlier this year they were having a special deal where if you rented a truck from them for moving, even in-town, you got a month's rent free for a storage unit. There wasn't a limit how how long you had to have it, either, so I used my free month and then moved all the stuff out of it and closed the account.
dumpweeds 3rd-Aug-2012 10:32 pm (UTC)
okay so I'm at home for the summer (leaving in 3 weeks) and my parents are trying to force me to go to church and shit like that, and I'm just like, I'm 19, I can make my own decisions about my beliefs and they say that I have to because I live in their house. am I being unreasonable for thinking this is something that SHOULDN'T be forced upon me? like, telling me to do chores and stuff, I get, but idk...
layweed 3rd-Aug-2012 10:33 pm (UTC)
I don't think that's unreasonable at all. Quite the opposite, in fact.
randomtasks 3rd-Aug-2012 10:32 pm (UTC)
I'm trying so hard not to rage at this guy on Facebook who is ridiculous pro-gun. He posted an article where a guy stabbed and killed 9 (article said 8 though) in some country in Africa and basically using it to say "SEE YOU CAN STILL KILL PEOPLE WITHOUT GUNS, *insert an ablest and a homophobic slur here*?!"

I can't with this guy anymore.
layweed 3rd-Aug-2012 10:34 pm (UTC)
Yeah I really don't get that argument. It seems to have become really popular post-Aurora shootings. e.g. "Well if he didn't have guns he would've built bombs or something!!!!!!!" Uh, BUT HE WOULDN'T HAVE HAD GUNS. ONE LESS WAY OF KILLING PEOPLE.

ffs i can't even.
bmh4d0k3n 3rd-Aug-2012 10:33 pm (UTC)
And guess whom I'm seeing tomorrow night ...

JEALOUS Latrice was in C-bus during Pride and I totally missed her. She was even in the march but I was way in the back with TransOhio. Oh my god her and Sharon Needles are my role models I swear

Two more weeks and I start my temp job!!!

Also I'm *this* close to kicking my fiance's boss ass. Matt has been working until 7pm (he's working 9am to 5pm)both he and his manager come home and spend 3+ hours working on whatever websites have gone during the hours they have spent training school board on how to do minor updates on their websites.

All they want is one person hired so they can keep on top of the support calls. And because they are being paid salary, all they are getting out of it is lieu time.
beuk 3rd-Aug-2012 10:45 pm (UTC)
This week I became a library page! Oh my gosh, working in youth services is hard on the knees. Pretty much every book I had to shelve today I had to kneel to do it.

Also I don't have any clothes so I stole my sister's Alloy and Delia's catalogs. I don't care that they're for teens and and lower-twentysomethings.
andthelight 3rd-Aug-2012 10:46 pm (UTC)
I loved being a page, omg. I feel like it's such a helpful and important job, even if you don't get paid that great (at least, I didn't, lol).

I would love to be able to have that job again. :D
randomtasks 3rd-Aug-2012 10:46 pm (UTC)
Can you put work-studys on a resume?

I'm getting mixed answers on this one.
kitanabychoice 3rd-Aug-2012 10:47 pm (UTC)
I don't see why not. I've never qualified for work-study but if you can put volunteer work on a resume, I would assume work-study counts as experience too.
kitanabychoice 3rd-Aug-2012 10:47 pm (UTC)
15% RAISE AT WORK LAST WEEK, WOO.

andthelight 3rd-Aug-2012 10:47 pm (UTC)
damnnnnn get it! Lucky you!

andthelight 3rd-Aug-2012 10:49 pm (UTC)
my one cousin is so fucking insufferable. He posts gross articles like "Semen is an antidepressant!" and sexist disgusting shit like that, and he claims that his workplace "keeps beer stocked in the fridge", because alcohol makes you ~more productive, apparently.

And the worst part is, his mom (my aunt) makes it into a stupid competition between him and I. And since I don't have a job right now, I'm ~losing~.

Ugh.
andthelight 3rd-Aug-2012 10:51 pm (UTC)
lol, sorry for the drunken angry rant, womp. I'm just irritated by his general existence.
baka_tenshi 3rd-Aug-2012 10:51 pm (UTC)
LOL OMG THAT PICTURE IS AMAZING

I'm moving on this Sunday? I'm not sure. Apparently, my dad was gonna pick me up (cause I was unable to get a job and save up for my own place) last week but his ride bailed so we aimed for today but his ride bailed again. It's kind of annoying but eh. It gives me time to enjoy here more since my grandma's also gonna be there and has a bedtime (she sleeps lightly and gripes about me waking up at 9am...) and conservative about shower usage. ;;

At least I'll be on a computer finally... Oh! Is anyone planning to join Nano this year? What's your plot looking like? :0 I want to make this tablet mainly an ereader and start reading again (and maybe write for Nano this year!).
sobota 3rd-Aug-2012 11:01 pm (UTC)
I've been doing NaNo (and winning) every year since 2001! I'm doing it again this year, and I'm writing a fanfiction involving Supernatural, Doctor Who and Sherlock (bbc version). Woo!
elmocho 3rd-Aug-2012 10:53 pm (UTC)
This week has been tiring, for some reason. Started Sunday with my stepson getting banned from some online gaming group, which led to his retrospectively hilarious attempt to run away-- hilarious in that he got to the end of the block, and went about things as if he were Jason Bourne. He is not. I feel for him, but again, it's an online gaming group. This happened at about 12:30-1 a.m. Sunday.

All week I have been in full WAT mode over people on Facebook about Chick-fil-A. An acquaintance from high school is in full high dudgeon mode because she supports gay rights, but loves her some waffle fries, and really wants to be able to do both. Posting that article the Huffington Post resulted in this long ranting reply-- since deleted, but saved in my e-mail:

"I'd like Huff Post to do an expose on other fast food restaurants and other big retail business, and the causes and organizations that they give money to. The more we know, perhaps then more people will become outraged and boycott or support more things, dividing everyone even more who just want to eat a goddamn, unhealthy, but delicious sandwhich without a side of political symbolism or anti or pro whatever. No matter what anyone says, I will continue to support gay marriage, while eating my Chick-fil-a nuggets and listening to the Dixie Chicks, and supporting McCain and Obama, while being fiscally conservative and pro-choice in a state where I once supported Arpaio, but miss Napolitano. Is that too much to ask?"

She deleted it before I could school her, but I'm seriously considering a wave of the banhammer.

I ended up posting, in general "I'm really not here to soothe your cognitive dissonance. That's not my gig."

My son has been teething again, and has gone from letting me rock him to sleep while I sing Warren Zevon to screaming and crying at the bad terrible man holding and rocking him. We can tell he's overtired, but it's disconcerting. He has also discovered he can move to other rooms under his power instead of just crawling around the living room. He will stand on his own if he is holding something, but has not stood up on his own.
poetic_pixie_13 4th-Aug-2012 12:26 am (UTC)
Honestly, unfriend that shit. You don't have to put up with that.

And teething is the worst. You know you can't do anything but ride it out but you still want to do something! And standing is exciting, when my baby brother and little cousins would start standing everyone would just stop what they were doing to watch and see how long this one would last. We'd genuinely be on the edge of our seats.

Finally quitting a job that has been wearing me down and running me ragged for almost a year now, and that feeling is so SATISFYING.

If only my family would actually support the break I'm taking for my mental and physical health. That'd help more than anything.
corinn 4th-Aug-2012 05:20 am (UTC)
Good on you! I hope the break allows you to refresh and reset and enables you to start new somewhere much better. ♥

Passed one part of the CPA exam! Just one. And only barely. But I'll take that, I don't care.
