Romney in New Orleans Asks Where the Water Came From
By Jackie Koszczuk
Surveying the flood damage produced by Hurricane Isaac, newly minted Republican nominee Mitt Romney on Friday told Gov. Bobby Jindal that he had come to Louisiana to learn -- and then asked where all the water came from.
Meeting with fellow Republican Jindal in the flooded Lafitte area of Jefferson Parish, Romney said, “I appreciate the chance to be here. I have a lot of questions for you. I’m here to learn and obviously to draw some attention to what’s going here, so that people around the country know that people down here need help.”
Jindal, who had not attended the GOP convention in Tampa because of the storm, lauded the contributions of the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and other organizations amid a scene of downed trees, high water, and National Guard troops. Romney expressed concern about the welfare of the 5,000 residents, some of whom had evacuated. He then asked, according to a journalists' pool report of the visit: “Did the water come from the sky, or the rivers, or the ocean?”
The comment brought to mind another observation about the natural wonders that Romney made during the primaries, when he returned home to Michigan and remarked, “I love this state. The trees are the right height.”
Heavy rains continued to pound New Orleans on Friday, and hundreds of thousands of people were without power.
President Obama will travel to Louisiana on Monday, the White House announced on Friday. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., issued a statement criticizing Romney’s Louisiana visit as the “height of hypocrisy,” saying that vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan’s budget plan in Congress would cut funding for disaster relief.

He also apparently told a flooding victim to go home and call 211 to get info on services that could assist her with the fact that she lost her home in a flood. There's a point where you just really need to stop talking. He zoomed right by it ages ago.
Romney To Homeless Hurricane Victim: ‘Go Home’
Yesterday, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney visited Louisiana, where much of the state was flooded due to Hurricane Issac. While visiting the Pelican State, however, Romney had some odd advice for one victim of the hurricane who had lost her home due to the flooding. According to Jodie Chiarello, a suddenly homeless resident of the state, Romney advised her to “go home and call 211.” 211 is a telephone number in Louisiana that provides information to residents about health and human services programs.
I'm curious. Does he not process whatever he wants to say before they leave his mouth? This gaffe, along with the 'where did all the water come from' question is like a continuation of his overseas visit.
DYING @ the tree height statement, though. That's the nicest thing you could come up with? Even Dubya could lie better than that.
Well, I'm honestly sort of thinking he's probably got to be a NPD or a psychopath. His complete lack of awareness of anyone other than himself is quite staggering. I mean, he's trying to say whatever it'll take to be the next president but it seems like that little piece of humanity and empathy isn't there.
That, or he's being trolled by his writers/staff. Haha.
“Did the water come from the sky, or the rivers, or the ocean?”
Honestly Mittens... If you don't know the difference between hurricanes and tornado's and a general idea of how they're formed, I don't think anyone will be able to "teach" you. You've speed right past the point of no return.
You know... It's stupid, idiotic things like this that make me wish to see how the other countries are mocking him -- Don't get me wrong. I don't think anyone really even knows him outside the US, so that's where the "wish" comes from. Still...
A very keen and insightful question given the fact that during Hurricane Katrina heavy winds mixed with severe flooding caused the flood walls that supported canals and other bodies of water to collapse.
You’d think that all of us would have learned from history that not all water associated with flooding comes from the sky. But then…“If we’ve learned anything from history, it’s that we’ve learned nothing from history.”

(And don't forget that New Orleans is full on those "ethnic" people, brown people, and poor people. Just imagine his horror!)
Water could also have come from under the ground.
Also, the ice in the all fridges of the state could have melted down, but I find this hypothesis somewhat unreal.

What.
This guy could be our president.
What.
I remember many years ago, a scientist kept warning that if a real hurricane ever hit New Orleans, it would be like a giant toilet bowl flushing, with everything collapsing in on itself. Sadly, he was right.
That's it. I'm taking election day off work, staying home, and boozing as I watch the results roll in. I am going to need it.
