Black Mississippi Church Burned And Vandalized With ‘Vote Trump’

A black church in Mississippi was burned and vandalized with pro-Donald Trump graffiti late Tuesday.

Authorities responded to the fire at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville, Mississippi, Tuesday night. Delta Daily News reports that the majority of the damage was to the main sanctuary and there were no reported injuries. Someone had spray-painted the words “Vote Trump” along the side of the building.

A woman at the nearby Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church told The Huffington Post that Hopewell is a historically black church. She said the community is in shock over what happened.

The Greenville Police Department declined to comment, directing inquiries to the mayor’s office. No one at the mayor’s office was immediately available to comment.

The FBI told The Clarion-Ledger, a Mississippi newspaper, that it is aware of the situation and is investigating to “determine if any civil rights crimes were committed.”

This is a developing story and will be updated.

Stanford sexual assault survivor named Glamour ‘Woman of the Year’

By Katie Mettler

When Emily Doe first learned the vice president of the United States had written her a letter, she was lounging at her home, wearing pajamas, eating cantaloupe.

It had been two months since Brock Turner, a former Stanford University student, was convicted of sexually assaulting her behind a campus dumpster while she was unconscious and seven days since he had been sentenced to six months in jail and three years’ probation for the crime.

On the same day the judge made his ruling, Emily Doe, a pseudonym assigned to protect her anonymity, read aloud in court her now-famous victim impact statement, words that have been heralded as a pivotal moment in the fight against sexual assault on college campuses.

“You don’t know me, but you’ve been inside me,” her statement began, “and that’s why we’re here today.”

“You took away my worth.”

Donald Trump Is Accused Of Raping A 13-Year-Old. Why Haven’t The Media Covered It?

There are two big reasons.

If you’ve been anywhere near Facebook or Twitter in the past several months, you’re probably aware that there is a case working its way through the courts that accuses Donald Trump of forcibly raping a 13-year-old girl in 1994.

On Wednesday, the woman, who remains anonymous, will appear at a press conference with her new attorney, Lisa Bloom, the daughter of Gloria Allred. Bloom wrote a column about the case in The Huffington Post last summer.

I really this case starts getting some real attention beginning today, because this woman needs and deserves justice. (Also, this would help take everyone's attention off Hillary's emails and Comey's assholery, which would be a nice bonus.)
