Does Second Life have an Iran? Maybe people could inform players to dress their avatars in green and march in protest!

Stop @BBCNEWS televising usernames from Iran on News24. Retweet. #iranelection

Anyone know if this is true or just a twitter thing getting out of hand?
omgggwth 16th-Jun-2009 08:53 pm (UTC)
I'm just going to reply to myself. SHhhh.

RT: warnings on the iranian tv that they will shoot protestors this night #IranElection

I do not know what I am going to do for an hour without a constant stream of news. I got used to it pretty quickly.

Jon Leyne (BBC)
Reporting from Tehran

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/8103577.stm

"In a way we've reached a bit of a deadlock. The government can't work out how to deal with the unprecedented demonstrations. But the opposition is disorganised, it has no co-ordination, no strategy.
And the demonstrators, despite the radical nature of what they are doing, don't fully perceive the way in which they are threatening the foundations of Islamic Republic. This has gone way beyond disputed elections.

I don't think the offer of a recount will have much effect. They haven't said who would do the recount, what about irregularities on election day? Nothing less than a full re-run of the election would satisfy the opposition. I can't see how government would offer that. The Supreme Leader has staked so much on the results of this election, it would be a massive u-turn."

This reminds me so much of what we were seeing out of Berlin in 1989, except then it was crowding around the evening news for our snippet of what was going on.

I was watching the Today Show this morning and they had John McCain on. They asked him a few questions about his opinions on Iran and then they moved directly into asking him about the Palin/Letterman thing. YEAH THAT'S IMPORTANT. He was pissed, though. He was like WE NEED TO MOVE ON FROM THAT.
evilgmbethy 16th-Jun-2009 08:53 pm (UTC)
shit, I was tired of the Palin/Letterman crap before the Iranian elections even happened. -_-

Question for those have been following from the beginning (and sorry if this is answered somewhere).
Why is Ahmadinejad in Russia? Is there a particular reason? It just seems strange that he would go there during an election, or did he leave after?
flowerings 16th-Jun-2009 09:05 pm (UTC)
I think he left after.
