:( damn...

Oh no oh no oh no oh no I'm afraid that its going to reach a fever pitch of violence D: Everything was so peaceful yesterday (for the most part)...

and now because of flood warnings I can't attend the Raleigh protest later :( *feeling helpless, wishes I was religious so I could pray*
andora 16th-Jun-2009 04:29 pm (UTC)
You don't have to be religious to put some sort of good vibes out there. :)

Well, I just talked to my Persian friend (she's first-born American, but has a lot of family in Tehran) and she said that her cousins are all just excited and ready for this. She reminded me that they've been through way worse and are more than ready for a big change. "It's their generation" she stressed to me. I'm still nervous for them, but I'm glad to hear that they're way more excited than they are scred.

Here's a link to the interview McCain did with the Today show, saying we need to get involved.

jessickah 16th-Jun-2009 04:34 pm (UTC)
Thank fuck he isn't our president. I can only imagine.
fruityphobia 16th-Jun-2009 04:31 pm (UTC)

Flickr photo stream. Mostly from the protests. Pretty gruesome stuff.
fruityphobia 16th-Jun-2009 04:32 pm (UTC)
I'm honestly shocked at how violent it's gotten after being relatively peaceful for the last couple days.. =/

I have been following the old post all day at work and the "re-count" has me seriously worried :/ I mean, everyone pretty much knows it wouldn't be legit, but with the crappy coverage this is getting in the MSM*, who knows how it will be presented to the world.

Who else was in green today? I have nothing green that's work appropriate apart from my shoes, so I got some green ribbon at a craft shop and wore it around my wrist.

*The BBC have mainly been rocking it.
jlsigman 16th-Jun-2009 05:28 pm (UTC)
I wore black today in honor of the death's, I will do something green tomorrow.
phookie 16th-Jun-2009 04:35 pm (UTC)

in azadi street...I have seen that monument so many times. This is surreal.
ceilidh_ann 16th-Jun-2009 04:38 pm (UTC)
Asia Times has an interesting analysis of the entire affair.

zoostation 16th-Jun-2009 04:48 pm (UTC)
I know this isn't the issue, but is Mousavi any different/better than Ahmedinejad? Is he as nutty/defiant?
buongiornodaisy 16th-Jun-2009 04:50 pm (UTC)
That's one of my concerns about getting involved as well. I'm all for supporting free and fair democracy, but out and out endorsing a candidate? That's all kinds and flavors of tricky.
calimoonchild 16th-Jun-2009 04:50 pm (UTC)
Oh yay! New live post! THanks bluetooth! :)

You're welcome! I noticed that too much good material was buried in a mound of comments.

ProtesterHelp در ميدان آزادي احتياج طبیب Medics needed in Azadi Square. #iranelection #gr88 URGENT!

buongiornodaisy 16th-Jun-2009 04:59 pm (UTC)
This is some bullshit. >\
dearpencilpal 16th-Jun-2009 05:01 pm (UTC)

jwaneeta 16th-Jun-2009 05:04 pm (UTC)
Things are moving so fast. Is the anonymous site to assist communications still worth linking?

Huh, they changed the layout already.

Have any of you had luck setting up a proxy? I've been trying and can't seem to get it to work.
lechaco 16th-Jun-2009 05:16 pm (UTC)
It seems Tor isn't working so well in Iran since they're blocking a lot of protocols. Try Psiphon. Its twitter account said its nodes are working in Iran. Setup is a bit difficult for the latest version since it requires you to download a lot of extra stuff. :\

Not sure if it works on Mac.
