Woohoo Nick Burns! They had an interesting interview with him NPR this morning, although it was basically repeating what everyone already knew.

OK you guys, I need a break too. I've been following this almost non-stop since Friday and I'm pretty sure I'm going cross-eyed now from staring at the monitor so much.

from #iranelection:

-- "eforsaith: RT from IS Iran: to supporters of Mousavi: bring flowers with yourself for today's rally at 4 in 7-tir sq to give to Basijis #iranelection"

Anybody reminded of those iconic images from the recent RNC protests and that photo from the 70s in the US?

-- "Lalikat: RT Called NYT & they say they decided to post Iranian twitter's userIDs because they 'post in public anyway' & will not remove #iranelection"

Augh. Can't say I fault their reasoning, but still, no reason to contribute to the problem.

-- "2amlastcall: RT Frm Iran: Civil government workers going home despite demands they work overtime. #iranelection"

-- "babbsjunior: Iran before the election: http://bit.ly/38s5fJ (expand) #mousavi1388 #iranelection #Tehran #gr88"

The contrast between these pictures and the ones we've seen over the last few days is ... sad.

-- "Adam503: #IranElection Silent rally/demo Haft Tir Square Wed 5pm Communication systems r down in #Tehran plz pass it on #IranElection"

I'm not sure if this is legit, but early organising seems to be happening.

Exactly. If the Iranian gov't. will manage to find them anyway, we might as well not make it easy for those officials.

-- "queenkaye: rt-- Mohajerani, Khatami's first Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, asked ppl to join the Friday prayers this week. #IranElection"

I don't know what this means, but it sounds vaguely promising.

-- "deconfuse: Breaking News: Rafsanjani is meeting other top clerics to replace Khamenei in the upcoming days! #iranelection #iran"

Could be misinformation, but if it isn't, whoa!

-- "PragmaticIdeals: RT @CNNSaeed: The Guardian has a live timeline of #iranelection unrest. Fascinating one-stop reading of all developments http://u.nu/5rpc"

^ This is AWESOME. Clear, laid-out, video references, shows what's been going on. Link in the OP for latecomers, maybe?

-- "Arshen: RT Video of fires burning in the streets of #Tehran during the night http://bit.ly/13UjVl (expand) #IranElection #gr88 #Tehran #GoGreenForIran"

And everything else from there is repeats of earlier tweets and already-debunked rumours, so I am going to come back in about an hour.

Stay safe, bbs!

To all foreign journalists about to be kicked out of Iran: give your cameras to protesters before you leave! Please RT! #iranelection
omgggwth 17th-Jun-2009 04:38 am (UTC)
But if the protesters can't get online to publish them ....... I'm confused about this one. But that could be because I'm tired.

Any west-coast posters staying up?

At least I can watch the Daily Show With Colbert's Report and see the kerfuffle.
