Originally heard reports and warnings of that a while back...but, really, who can say?

I'm trying to explain to a Canadian friend why it's best that the US shouldn't seriously involved with the Iran election conflict/revolution. What points should I bring up?
saigonostalker 17th-Jun-2009 03:45 pm (UTC)
There's only one point, really - the fact that Ahmadinejad and his supporters in the government and elsewhere are already trying to say that the riots are being encouraged by 'foreign media outlets' and that they're cracking down on anyone involved with 'the foreign influence'.

What it boils down to is that if Obama were to take a strong pro-Opposition stance, all it would do is weaken the Opposition's position in Iran, as the government could then say 'Well, look, these riots are obviously just the work of the United States.'

If you're going to rig an election could you be slightly more competent at it?
saigonostalker 17th-Jun-2009 03:43 pm (UTC)
Yeah, they're not exactly good at this, are they?

bluetooth16 Good Morning ONTD_P!17th-Jun-2009 03:46 pm (UTC)
I'm back refreshed, and with a new green icon thanks to omgangiepants. Today, I'm working on crafting a persuasive argument for right wingers to support the Iranian people. Wish me luck!

P.S. I might make a new discussion post today. We don't want LJ breaking or Captcha to come on.

I've been wondering exactly how many pages we can drag any one topic out with.

In mainstream media actually caring news, Ann Curry has started tweeting again with news that I'm sure she's getting from Twitter, because I'm not seeing it on CNN and the like (and she didn't get a chance to report on it this morning, because obviously Pres. Obama killing a fly was more important news!) Her twitter is @AnnCurry if you want to follow.

Of course it's because he/she's at a march or on the rooftops, if they're still holding these events, alive and protesting!

Optimism is optimism

"More than 500,000 Iranians are silently marching from from Haft-e-Tir Squre to Vali Asr Square, reports Saeed Kamali Dehghan in Tehran."

That's amazing. The fact that they come out in such great numbers every day is so inspiring.
