ONTD_P, you all are amazing. I go away for 6 hours and I come back to 5 pages of Woah!
PS - My boss was nice enough to ask me if I had a 'rough' night. How lovely.
500,000 marched in silence today in Tehran. What else happened?

The more pictures I see of the protests etc... the more amazed I am of the Iranian women. I am in awe. Feminists in this country could take a huge lesson from these women.
fruityphobia 17th-Jun-2009 04:39 pm (UTC)
I second this. Their courage is incredible.

Brings new meaning to the term "speedreading"!
lemonadestraws From HuffPo -video of march earlier today17th-Jun-2009 04:43 pm (UTC)

Slightly OT, but does anyone else know why the audio goes silent around the 2/3 mark in a lot of protester videos?
cookie_nut Re: From HuffPo -video of march earlier today17th-Jun-2009 04:45 pm (UTC)
It may be the compression. Not sure.

'At the 2010 World Cup Asian qualifier football match between South Korea and Iran at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on June 17, 2009, the Iranian team members wear green wristbands in solidarity.'

I'm sure it's already been posted, but I had to add this. Do you guys get what that means?! OMG. That would be like the NY Yankees or the US Olympic Team uniting behind Obama / McCain. Except bigger.

Just incredible. To me, that shows how this can no longer be seen as a fringe movement- this is really the PEOPLE of IRan vs. their government.
saigonostalker 17th-Jun-2009 04:55 pm (UTC)
There's definitely a new energy and force behind these protests, and the support is there at so many different levels of the Iranian infrastructure.

We may really be seeing something here.
