Does it matter if they are? For all we know, they could have Iranian parents or relatives which is just as important as being born in Iran. What she says is right, her tone doesn't matter. There are far more aggressive people here.

I still want to know why is it so important to you if she is actually from Iran or not? It is obvious that she is either from Iran or has some sort of connection. Why does she have to admit she is from Iran? Would not actually being from Iran make her argument invalid?

If bellicka bothered to read her other comments, she'd have a clue.

I try not to read her comments, I'm turned off by the condescending and judgmental tones of them.

She has repeatedly tried to "school me" in issues of the Middle East, Iran included, and I would like clarification as to exactly what her qualifications are (or what she thinks they are), nationality included. She has a history of trolling, and can't seem to answer simple questions about her origins. So yeah, the question is important. I take more seriously the thoughts of somebody who lived in Iran in 1979 than, say, somebody who took one polisci course and thinks they suddenly know everything.

Maybe you should link me to these other comments so I can "get a clue"?

I'm sorry, I meant no disrespect and I am sorry that I used harsh words. She seems to know A LOT which leads me to believe she is either from Iran or Iranian. She has said she is flying over there, she reads Farsi news sites and knows the government better than most Iranians I know that live here (myself included). I dunno, I'm pretty sure she is. My attack was on the other person cause they insisted on asking her if she was Muslim. What did that have anything to do with anything? If you still want, I'll find some of the comments.

Trolling tho? Has she really?
bellichka 17th-Jun-2009 02:38 am (UTC)
I agree with your entire comment, which is why I asked. It's not a difficult question to answer, but one that she seems to have trouble answering. She speaks with such authority that I question her qualifications, and if being Iranian is one of those qualifications.

It's not so much trolling as it is being a complete asshole without realizing it.

Ah, yeah I've had that experience.

I personally think being an Iranian shouldn't qualify anyone to "school" anyone. I pretty much agree with what you just said.
bellichka 17th-Jun-2009 02:54 am (UTC)
Well, I would consider being Iranian/Iraqi/what-have-you would give somebody more authority on the subject than some sheltered white kid who took "History 101 - History of the World" as a freshman in college, and thinks that suddenly makes them some kind of an expert. I would and do respect nationals who can comment on their own political situations better than somebody who's studied it through the lens of American textbooks and American revisionist history (such as myself). Same as I trust somebody who's currently there to inform me as to what's actually going on, moreso than our mainstream media, which is going a terrible job.

I agree but I meant using harsh language as leprofessional is. That is what "schooling" means right? (Heh, still not sure what half of the English slangs mean.)

Sure, everyone has the right to be angry but I don't think Iranians using anger towards Americans or people from non Iranian countries to teach them about our politics/culture is going to help any of us.

Trolling tho? Has she really?

Yeah, she has, really, since long before the Iranian election.

Let us not get into the tone argument.
