I agree with your entire comment, which is why I asked. It's not a difficult question to answer, but one that she seems to have trouble answering. She speaks with such authority that I question her qualifications, and if being Iranian is one of those qualifications.

It's not so much trolling as it is being a complete asshole without realizing it.

Ah, yeah I've had that experience.

I personally think being an Iranian shouldn't qualify anyone to "school" anyone. I pretty much agree with what you just said.

Well, I would consider being Iranian/Iraqi/what-have-you would give somebody more authority on the subject than some sheltered white kid who took "History 101 - History of the World" as a freshman in college, and thinks that suddenly makes them some kind of an expert. I would and do respect nationals who can comment on their own political situations better than somebody who's studied it through the lens of American textbooks and American revisionist history (such as myself). Same as I trust somebody who's currently there to inform me as to what's actually going on, moreso than our mainstream media, which is going a terrible job.

I agree but I meant using harsh language as leprofessional is. That is what "schooling" means right? (Heh, still not sure what half of the English slangs mean.)

Sure, everyone has the right to be angry but I don't think Iranians using anger towards Americans or people from non Iranian countries to teach them about our politics/culture is going to help any of us.

Icon + comment = I sound like a total oddball don' I? LOL. LOVE & PEACE FOR EVERYONE YO.
bellichka 17th-Jun-2009 03:14 am (UTC)
No, not necessarily using harsh language... more like trying to correct me and "teach me" when it's like "yeah, I knew that already, nice try." She hasn't been explaining or teaching things nastily, just being a nasty person in general. BUT I could go on and on about #leprofessionalfail... don't want to ruin your night (morning?)
ahtefeh 17th-Jun-2009 03:20 am (UTC)
It's Night.
Ah I see. Thanks for clearing that up. Now I see what you mean (been "schooled") and I still think no one should do that but this is ontd we are talking about so it's gonna happen no matter what. To make things lighter, awesome icon *thumps us*
bellichka 17th-Jun-2009 03:23 am (UTC)
Cool, wasn't sure if you still lived in Iran.

And thumbs up to your icon, too! I wanted to make more but I really don't have a good screencapping program and it takes forever for me to cap. Damn Macs.

Do you mind if I add you?
ahtefeh 17th-Jun-2009 03:29 am (UTC)
I was born in Iran but have been here for a while now. Can't go back due to religious reasons but hopefully one day I will.

I can make you some caps as soon as possible if you'd like.

Sure! Hah, I hope you don't mind some weird entries involving the Obama economics team. It's an odd joke amongst my friends and I.

This is going to sound creepy but do you mind me asking what state you're in? I have a "Manchester" about 15 minutes away from me... weird! But I guess a lot of states do :P
ahtefeh 17th-Jun-2009 03:46 am (UTC)
Haha, no problem. Manchester, NH. Close?
bellichka 17th-Jun-2009 03:47 am (UTC)
Aw, no. NY! (It was going to be way too coincidental for me if you were in NY...)
ahtefeh 17th-Jun-2009 03:51 am (UTC)
Haha. I wish I was close to NY. I'd love to live there although NYC itself scares me. You'd think growing up in Tehran would prepare me but living in Manchester has changed me. No one walks here :/
bellichka 17th-Jun-2009 03:53 am (UTC)
Manchester, NY is upstate... population of about 7000 or something ridiculous like that haha. I visited NYC for the first time a couple months ago and loved it, although it can be very intimidating and I was definitely ready to leave after a few days. (Had been to London twice but NYC never... go figure).
ahtefeh 17th-Jun-2009 03:57 am (UTC)
Would love to visit London. How was is? I was in Toronto last week and loved it! It's like a cleaner, nicer NYC I like to say. I loved NYC too but it was like reality slapping me in the face. I always said I'd like to live there cause television and movies make it look so easy. I was there for one day and I was so scared. It must be awesome to actually spend your life there cause it can make it so much easier to live and enjoy it without being shocked like I was.
