I can't decide if this is scary or awesome.

I am having a serious OH SHIT moment, because that means one of two things: they're going to try to get Khamenei to drop support of Ahmadenijad, or they're going to try to get rid of Khamenei. :O
lindra 17th-Jun-2009 07:34 am (UTC)
... Is it possible they might try for a two-fer?

Heh, that'd be a bit redundant, really.

I agree with the sentiment that this isn't so much about overthrowing Khamenei as forcing him to abandon support of Ahmadinejad.

However, if they did decide that an ouster was necessary, it would be BEYOND epic.

It would be the most epic server maintenance failwhale ever.

Either way, things are seriously hitting a tipping point. I figure Khamenei was hoping calling for a ten-day recount of some places would placate the masses, but oh, look. I can only see everything progressing one of three ways: a massive crackdown and epic and violent proportions, new elections being called, or the ouster of the current establishment (ie, Khamenei being replaced and new elections held). It feels like it could honestly swing either way at this point. I'm on pins and needles, so I can't even begin to imagine the way the people in Iran are feeling.
