IDK, it didn't exactly work, which is why we're talking about it. Had there been no Twitter and no internet and all info had been cut off, the coup would have been far more successful.

But world-wide knowledge, failure to completely cut off information both amongst protesters and the outside world, and the fact that despite the violence, people remain defiant.

That and you have high ranking political and spiritual leaders coming out one after another to condemn this.


I just feel like something has to give, and I'm daring to be optimistic that it will go a different way.

Oh, I don't think they'll be successful, either with the coup or the media crackdown, but they're definitely trying, which is why I'm worried things are going to get a lot more violent.

That said, the latest I've read is that some in the military are on the side of the protesters and have been protecting them from the basiji, who seem to be the ones being the most recklessly violent. And if the military turns on the people in charge, it's all over. In a good way.
