FROM BOING BOING: [F]rom other websites, we gather Palin's lawyers plan lawsuits against MSNBC, the New York Times, the Huffington Post, the Washington Post, individual bloggers in Alaska, and other such anti-Palin forces such as "rain on your wedding day" and static cling. (Sarah Palin, via Twitter: God told me to sue the internet)
Ever since users of 4chan.org hacked her email account, Sarah Palin seems unusually sensitive to what the internet thinks of her. She cited some doctored pics of Trig multiple times in her "goodbye cruel politics" speech on July 3rd. Below are those pics with her or her spokesperson's repeated condemnation of various low profile bloggers who really upset her.
This is the picture, posted at Alaska blogger Celtic Diva's blog, that first got under Palin's panties. It shows the face of a conservative Alaskan radio host superimposed on Trig's face, meant to show the cozy relationship he had with Palin:
It threw conservative websites, who coddle Ms. Palin to an obsessive, almost maternal degree, into a tizzy.
Palin's team's response to Celtic Diva, whose blog continually pokes fun at Palin, came before Palin's resignation:
Palin's latest response comes after liberal Alaskan Blogger Linda Kellen Biegel doctored a photograph of the former Republican vice presidential candidate with her 1-year-old son Trig, who suffers from Down Syndrome.
Biegel, who blogs in support of the Alaska Democratic Party under the name "Celtic Diva," superimposed a picture of conservative Alaskan radio host Eddie Burke over Trig's face in an apparent effort to show how close the radio host is with the Alaskan governor.
"Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig that has become an iconic representation of a mother's love for a special needs child," Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapelton said in a statement provided to CNN. "The mere idea of someone doctoring the photo of a special needs baby is appalling." [SOURCE: Politico]
And this is Palin's July 3rd speech, where she references bloggers' perceived attacks on Trig:
In fact, this decision comes after much consideration, and finally polling the most important people in my life - my children (where the count was unanimous... well, in response to asking: "Want me to make a positive difference and fight for ALL our children's future from OUTSIDE the Governor's office?" It was four "yes's" and one "hell yeah!" The "hell yeah" sealed it - and someday I'll talk about the details of that... I think much of it had to do with the kids seeing their baby brother Trig mocked by some pretty mean-spirited adults recently.) Um, by the way, sure wish folks could ever, ever understand that we ALL could learn so much from someone like Trig - I know he needs me, but I need him even more... what a child can offer to set priorities RIGHT - that time is precious... the world needs more "Trigs", not fewer.[SOURCE: TPM transcript of July 3rd speech.]
Next, Palin attorney Van Flein released this letter complaining about another relatively unknown Alaskan blogger named Shannyn Moore, who has now started up her own Palin Photoshop contest at her blog:
To the extent several websites, most notably liberal Alaska blogger Shannyn Moore, are now claiming as “fact” that Governor Palin resigned because she is “under federal investigation” for embezzlement or other criminal wrongdoing, we will be exploring legal options this week to address such defamation. This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law.
SOMETHINGAWFUL.COM feels their Photoshop thread is probably at least partially to credit with Palin's meltdown. The thread where SA goons discuss their impact on Palin is HERE.
A SomethingAwful member (I think) started this blog is almost wholly devoted to Photoshopping pictures of Trig. Many pics in the gallery HERE.
From HuffPo's "Sarah Palin vs. the Internet":
Yet, this past week, some blogger no one had ever heard of did a photoshop putting the face of a talk show host no one had ever heard of on the body of Trig Palin. And now, all of these people that you had heretofore never heard of are famous, because Sarah Palin wouldn't let the stuff slide. Even dumber, she said that the Photoshopping was a "desecration," which means she believes Trig had been "divested of her sacred character." Now I think Trig Palin is an awesome kid, but COME ON. That's a really pretentious thing for a parent to say.
Anyway, shortly after Sarah Palin went WARBONKERS on a blogger you never heard of, the entire internet responded in an even more vapid and juvenile fashion, and now there are stupid Photoshops everywhere, thanks to Sarah Palin, because that is what happens when you feed the beast with your stupid anger, instead of calmly letting some stuff slide and depriving the beast of oxygen.
Palin has long-hated the Internets:
Ms. Palin directed most of her media criticism at liberal bloggers, whom she twice called, “those bloggers in their parents’ basement just talkin’ garbage.” [SOURCE: 11-10-08, HuffPo]
Wonkette ran one of the Photoshopped pics of Trig HERE. ("Sarah Palin Will Soon Condemn, Bomb Entire Internet")
Below, one of the many times Sarah Palin said Hilary Clinton needed to be tougher and face media scrutiny like a (wo)man:
And here Sarah Palin makes fun of John Kerry's looks. Palin has cried foul when her looks are ridiculed:
