NOM Speaker: Outlawing Gay Marriage Will Help Save the Economy

9:13 am - 08/03/2010

Tamara Scott of the Concerned Women for America was one of the speakers at the NOM rally in Des Moines on Sunday. She claimed that outlawing gay marriage will improve the economy:

Said Scott: "This is not simply a party issue. It's a Biblical issue. Now I expect somebody like SNL will come along and make fun. We'll see the Church Lady revived. That's okay. I'd rather have man mad at me than be a stench in the nostrils of the God almighty."

She added: “It costs you, the taxpayer, as high as $280 billion a year for fragmented families, that's according to the Family Research Council, May 14, 2009. That's three trillion a decade...If we would correct the breakdown of the family by one percent, we could save the taxpayer $3 billion a year. To sit back and do nothing — we become part of the problem. We all need to help out here. It's too big for any of us. There's plenty of evil to go around."

Watch Scott spew her hate:

i JUST commented that allowing gays to marry puts millions into the economy based on the lavish gay weddings! (which are THE BEST!)

Leaving aside LOL FAMILY RESEARCH COUNCIL, then maybe y'all might want to police your own fucking house, lady, since it isn't them gay folks getting all those divorces and CAUSING "FRAGMENTED FAMILIES". Of course, I'm sure you'd tell an abused woman - to her face - that she ought to stay with her abuser "for the kids", right?

Also, a big hearty FUCK YOU for even insinuating that every fucking family that isn't YOUR definition of family is on fucking assistance.

Well I suppose on their side gays are ruining their marriages. Some holy roller, loud mouthed, trussed up republican comes flying out of the closet every few months with ridiculous excuses like, "I hired him to carry luggage" and other such sundries. If they weren't so ignorant and repressive and fool hardy, men and women would feel pressured into long term sham marriages only to destroy them when their found out or get confident enough to be who they really are...

ahahaha, the pearls, too easy.

I'm so surprised that she's not clutching them in her grubby little hate-talons.
apocalypsos 3rd-Aug-2010 01:38 pm (UTC)
... uh, exactly how many gay marriages does she think there are?
everythingonit 3rd-Aug-2010 01:40 pm (UTC)
ENOUGH TO SINK US ALL IN A HEDONISTIC TIDE OF MALE ON MALE/LADY ON LADY LOVING...

Or less.

She's delusional.

I honestly don't understand how these people think other people loving each other is hurting them. Now they're claiming it's hurting the economy? That is... a huge, huge stretch.

This is just so stupid... and they believe it... and that makes it scary.

"$280 billion a year for fragmented families"

And that's WITHOUT gays marrying. Maybe, just maybe Straight People being prohibited from Marrying might fix the damned economy. The figure she uses proves that straight people have screwed up marraige in so many ways that it's unbelievable, just let that damned gays have a damned marraige and shut your damned hater mouth Tamara.

Oh yes. Absolutely the solution to fragmented families is to stop people from getting married and creating a foundation for a family unit in their union. I prefer when these assholes admit they are against gay people in general and quit acting like this has anything to do with helping families. Their definition of what a family is sucks too.

It must be sad being her

I love that she did this in Des Moines. Tourism has increased to Iowa since we allow out of state couples to marry here, so, uh, yeah. No economic collapse yet, and I just celebrated my one-year anniversary in May. You'd think Iowan Armageddon would have come by now.

Oh, and the other states that allow gay marriage? They're doing pretty well too.

Happy Anniversary :]

Also echoing the "$280 billion a year for fragmented families" bit:

Considering that those "fragmented families" are undoubtedly 99.99% straight marriages, I'd suggest this hag take a Logic class before writing another speech.

"It costs you, the taxpayer, as high as $280 billion a year for fragmented families, that's according to the Family Research Council, May 14, 2009."

Fine, then we'll get rid of all marriage, problem solved! Now shut up.

Argh, these people, just arrrrrrrgh.
thelilyqueen 3rd-Aug-2010 01:52 pm (UTC)
Lady, you ARE a stench in the nostrils of any god worth following. Stop blaming Him/Her for your pettiness.
unfadingscar 3rd-Aug-2010 01:53 pm (UTC)
For her hatred*
unfadingscar 3rd-Aug-2010 01:52 pm (UTC)
I know it has been said time and time again, and that it is a little immature but: ban divorce if marriage is so sacred to you. Fight against that.

I'd slap this twat in her cunt with some logic about her 'facts'. Total idiot. Fragmented families being the gays.. pfft.
katrinar 3rd-Aug-2010 01:53 pm (UTC)
this woman clearly does not know gays. legalizing gay marriage will save the economy!

think of the lavish weddings the already billion+ dollar a year wedding industry will get to splurge on!
ubiquitous_a 3rd-Aug-2010 07:49 pm (UTC)
Well, there's the formalwear industry, the catering companies, the flower companies, entertainment dj's/karaoke people, the venues themselves, not to mention which all of the travel/tourism dollars for honeymoons.

So, yeah, that's a crapload of money just waiting to be spent. On those issues alone, you'd think the GOP would be ALL ABOUT gay marriage, right?

Oh, wait.....forgot that they prefer to make a useless show of political grandstanding as opposed to doing anything that is actually USEFUL.

Jackasses.
layweed 3rd-Aug-2010 01:55 pm (UTC)
Oh yeah? Well outlawing your dumb ass might help save all of us second-hand embarrassment. *headdesk*
