More Commonwealth Games woe

The BBC has seen pictures in the last two days showing the conditions inside rooms at the athlete's village used for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Bathrooms appear to be in a particularly poor state, with athletes ready to move into the accommodation immediately.

Outside, some of the walkways around the complex look potentially dangerous.

The glass barrier on this balcony is shattered, while the area in front of the stairwell is cordoned off.

Stains on this mattress look as though they have come from an animal such as a dog.

The poor conditions extend to this air-conditioning unit. All photographs shown here were taken during the course of this week. The first 22 English athletes leave London today.

Scotland, Canada and New Zealand have already delayed their departures. With the Games set to start on October 3rd, this pictures will give further worries to team organisers.

Team England's chef de mission Craig Hunter says: "With countries supposed to be moving in, there's no plaster on walls, they are deep in water, extremely uninhabitable and quite dangerous in many respects."
