"Ain't nothin' else to talk about," indeed. Jimmy McMillan first entered the national spotlight during a New York gubernatorial debate, bellowing that "the rent is too damn high" as his prime election platform. Since then, the former candidate (running, fittingly, on the Rent Is 2 Damn High Party) has been endlessly parodied, auto-tuned, and mashed-up.
But yesterday, McMillan released an album, again with the theme of pricey rent costs (of course). He also concurrently released his first-ever music video, about... you guessed it. The video certainly reflects McMillan's unique style, and it takes quite a literal approach to demonstrating the horrors of high rent.
For anyone wondering how McMillan actually did in the election last night: He got under 40,000 votes, which means The Rent is 2 Damn High Party is not eligible to appear on the ballot in the next four years since the minimum amount of votes needed to appear on the NYS ballot is 50,000.
