Quick bit of procrastination before I get back to a paper that is due tomorrow at 5.

I have a date tomorrow night! It's my first ever date with a girl and I am super excited! I like her; we've talked on the phone a couple of times and we text a lot.

Okay, back to the grind. Eight pages to go on this damn thing and I want to get as much finished tonight as possible.

I would definitely be interested in just having some of my art printedHOLYSHIT! I'm not professional, nor even highly educated in the arts (outside of self-education) but....
I will look at what's needed and reference my art, email the address provided on the spreadsheet if anything is applicable.
I would love to draw something custom. ZOMG the shit.
Here's to hoping I can contribute something, and that my

WHAT GAMES HAVE YOU BEEN PLAYING THIS WEEK?

Not much in the way of ~real~ gaming here; mostly Audiosurf and Facebook Scrabble (the latter of which I was soundly thrashed at by notgarystu today ;-; ). Oh, and I've been replaying .flow because yay new version!
jei_corsair 27th-Apr-2012 11:32 pm (UTC)
Finally got around to beating Fable 3. After that just a little time on bunch of random ones: Nightsky, Portal, and Super Meat Boy.

1. It's down to the recipe - there's plenty of ways to cook it. And as long as you change the water, it keeps around a week or so once opened (you can freeze it, but it affects the texture).

I've just started season 5 of Supernatural. Technologically inept/socially awkward Castiel is like, my favorite thing ever.
sobota 28th-Apr-2012 01:33 pm (UTC)
oh season five. the heart breaker. good luck, friend.

I went to my mother's "last lecture" today. It was an interesting experience. I learned a lot about my family that I sure as hell didn't know. It was bittersweet for her and for my sister and I as well because it's another chapter in our life completed. We're on our way out of North Dakota and on to bigger and better things (hopefully).

yay: My semester is over at school and I made out with all As! It's the weekend! No more work! The Unite Against the War on Women rally is tomorrow and I'm going!

boo: the male friend on facebook who tried to waffle during a conversation about equality betwen men and women. he basically said that he agrees that women and men are inherently equal, but not when it comes to like, you know, jobs and stuff.

but since that's only one bad thing, I'm posting my happy gif anyway.

Congrats on the A's bb! Well done!

Ugh, work.

We've been under a government pay freeze, so no raises at work last year or this year. Combine that with the fact that they just redid comp ratios, so that now it looks like most people at work are making 80-85% of the national average for our jobs, and people are angry and complaining and talking about finding new jobs. But I'm...not angry? I'm a single woman with a master's degree in engineering, no college debt (thanks to parents and scholarships, I know I'm lucky), making more starting out than my dad did when he retired after working at the same place for his entire career. I'm banking money every month, and it's hard to not feel lucky.

But then I hear everyone in my group talking, and I wonder if I should feel angry, because even though I'm making enough money, it could be more (like, $10,000 more a year), and having a lower salary will affect my future raises, etc. But I'm already making so much more money than the average person in this country, wanting to make more seems ungrateful or something. I just...I don't know.

tl;dr there is resentment at work I don't exactly share, and it's giving me a lot of unsettled feelings. :-/
kitanabychoice 27th-Apr-2012 11:43 pm (UTC)
first off: congrats, bb! sounds like you're doing fantastic. :)

I think it's okay to be humble about what you're making, but it's also okay to be upset if you know you're not getting paid what your work is worth. If you feel that you are making enough and that extra $10k doesn't matter that much to you, don't let your coworkers dissatisfaction bring you down. I'd probably even deflect the conversation or flat-out tell them, "I'm satisfied right now."

This week was crazy. I finally got my acceptance letter--I'm going to Hunter College in NYC in the fall!

And yesterday, I had my gallbladder removed. I had a fucking horrible reaction to the anesthesia and I'm only now feeling recovered. No pain no gain, right? lol

Hope everybody else had a fantastic week!
masakochan 28th-Apr-2012 12:09 am (UTC)
Congrats on the acceptance letter!

Afdhsjakfda- That's terrible about the anesthesia, though. D:

So today during Crazy Puppy Time, Phoebus barrelled into his pen so hard that it spun 180 degrees and the door ended up facing a wall so he couldn't get out.

So, like any good dog owner, I took pictures of his anguish as he tried to figure out why he couldn't escape and play with Zeus.

And Zeus, as always, is the master of dog facial expressions.

and here's phoebus sleeping in his food dish

POST PICTURES OF YOUR PUPPIES!

What a crappy-ish week. I had my semester-ly falling of the sick, which meant I had to cut both my office hours short and have someone cover my thursday night lab section for me. Ugh. I feel better today, but I'm still hacking up some really gross mucus.

On the bright side, one week left in the semester! Which means the grading of these god awful lab reports is almost at an end! YAY!

On the down side, it means it'll be nearly one year since I graduated. I formally graduated around mid-July of last year, but I walked in May with 3 hours of Eng. Lit. to do in the summer. At any rate, what it means is that I need to get off my ass and find a real job. A permanent job. A career. Sigh.
bushy_brow 28th-Apr-2012 12:23 am (UTC)
Finally! I've been waiting for a shenanigans post for nearly a week 'cause I wanted to say...

I GOT A NEW JOB!

I START A WEEK FROM TOMORROW, AND I'M LOOKING FOR APARTMENTS THIS WEEKEND!

Wish me luck, bbs! :-D
layweed 28th-Apr-2012 12:29 am (UTC)
Congrats and good luck!

Sounds exactly where I want to be.

I came out to one of my best friends about my bisexuality and also told her that I had strong feelings for her... And she returns those feelings! Awesome, right?

Except not really, because she likes her TA too. Which I knew, but I figured I'd take precedence over him because I was right there, you know?

Except... Not really again... "I'm not sure what I want to do, but I definitely want to ask him out once the semester is over."

So in other words, I'm being rejected. <_< FOREVER ALONE, _P!
brittlesmile 28th-Apr-2012 12:50 am (UTC)
Congrats on coming out!

But sorry that it didn't quite work out with your friend. I feel like a lot of times, timing is everything. But it's still probably better now that everything's out in the open?
theciz 28th-Apr-2012 12:26 am (UTC)
Today is my last day in Japan. :( Buuut today I'm going to see the Giant Gundam in Odaiba, so that should be fun! Then tomorrow (Sunday for me lol) is my last day in Singapore before finally going home. So that'll be good.

I haven't done as much on this trip as I'd like (I keep hitting road blocks) but I did get to the Square Enix shop in Hatsudai and spend an alarming amount of money, so that was good lol.
layweed 28th-Apr-2012 12:32 am (UTC)
Bon voyage!
