Limbaugh launches 'Rush Babes' campaign

10:11 pm - 05/09/2012

Rush Limbaugh is fighting back against the National Organization for Women, the progressive women's group that has been targeting local advertisers and affiliates in an effort to get the conservative talk show host off the air.

On his program today, Limbaugh announced a new National Organizaion for Rush Babes "dedicated to the millions of conservative women who know what they believe in: family, American Values, and not being told by Faux Feminist Groups how to think."

"Sometime later this month the Femi-Nazis are going to be working with Media Matters for America in kicking off some giant program, some coordinated plan to have me taken off the air, under the premise that women hate this program and that this program is an unfriendly environment for women, that this program laughs at, impugns, makes fun of women," Limbaugh said during today's program. "Of course, the flaw in this is that the National Organization for Women thinking that they speak for women. If there was ever a group that speaks for an almost infinitesimal minority of women, it's them."

NOW announced the launch of the "Enough Rush" campaign on April 19 to protest his attack on Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke, with protests planned for at least eight cities, including Washington, D.C., and New York City. Earlier this year, NOW president Terry O'Neill called on Clear Channel to "pull the plug" on Limbaugh's program.

O'Neill was traveling by plane this afternoon and unable to comment, but a spokesperson with NOW said she would provide comment later today.

I have such secondhand embarrassment for anyone who decides to join that group.
brookiki 10th-May-2012 02:06 pm (UTC)
Whenever I see a group like this, my first horrified response is to check it to make sure none of my family or friends has liked it on Facebook. Fortunately, no one has, but seriously, when am I going to be able to click a button and delete people from my life like I can delete people from my Facebook?

I can't even take him seriously anymore. I just can't.
alryssa 10th-May-2012 05:20 am (UTC)
oh okay since we're going the RDJ route

i_llbedammned 10th-May-2012 05:27 am (UTC)
Even the logo he chose goes against the very idea that he is trying to recruit women to take an empowering role.
astridmyrna 10th-May-2012 05:51 am (UTC)
That's assuming he wants to empower them in the first place.
sesmo 10th-May-2012 05:45 am (UTC)
You figure all those conservative women will be all over that stripper silhouette in the corner? Because most of the religious folks I know would not associate themselves with that bullshit.
kitschaster 10th-May-2012 05:49 am (UTC)
Ah, nothing says, "I think women are smart, intelligent and independent human beings who deserve respect!" ...like calling them /babes/. And nothing says it any louder than implying that this harem of "babes" belongs to him. Ultimately, his babes. Rush's babes.

Ah, okay. He must be trollin', and will most likely laugh at the women who end up taking this seriously. Like ol' lady who thinks that the ban on marriage equality is about saving whites so that they can continue to breed out the non-whites? Maybe she'll sign up, idk. She doesn't seem like "the babe type".

Also love how any woman who hates Rush is a lesbian. I read the comments. You should not.

He is seriously a master level troll. Instead of just starting a "Women for Rush" group, he's instead doing it in a way that is purposefully offensive to feminists on so many levels. If he really wanted to gain as much support of conservative women as he could, that silhouette would not be there since a lot of conservatives are religious and prudish. His real goal is to offend and rile people up. I'M STILL RELEVANT, PAY ATTENTION TO ME!

Also, lol

I was viewing the people who "liked" posts on the page and a hefty portion of them appear to be old women :/ Provided, I only went through like 100-200 of them before I was like

and had to stop looking for my own sanity.

Well done, Limbaugh, you have outdone yourself on ridiculousness and idiocy. You must be so proud of yourself.

I always wondered what exactly happened to him, actually. Now I know.

He's turned into a very, very creepy stalker boy, emulating that which has shunned him. This is almost as bad as that one banned member, sic_girl or whatever, posting how much she hates _p on her user info page. That, and this, are delicious.
